Hello and welcome to the world of insanity where all the questions can be answered. Basically, the FCE Ultra X Emulator at Zophar's Domain has lots of Debugging features, it's own hex editor, Trace Logger, Code/Data logger etc. It's much more better than those basic disassembly or corruption programs you're using.

Some NES Mega Man games already covered some disassembly data. Check Datacrystal or Rom Haacking Dot Net to get these documents.

Good luck!

EDIT: I noticed that you say that you specify Mega Man IV. Well, these 2 sites are very helpful.

I love playing around with Japanese editors. Like I did with SMB Utility Version 1.061

Rockman 2 Editor created by Rock5easily was released a while ago. I have tried to post news at RHDN about Rockman 2 Editor but rejected.

This Rockman 2 and Mega Man II editor created by Rock5easily can edit maps, enemies, CHR Animations, CHR Palettes, Palettes, TSA Attributes (Especially above 7F), screen start position, lock scrolling, and even edit scrolls. It can add or delete enemies by right clicking on the screen in the enemy editor. However, it doesn't edit music headers, title screen, skull castles, texting, graphic load sets, or stage select. The editor is in Japanese and is very easy to use for most of them.

Me and Konchuu Kettou are in a team current Rockman 2 Project. However, I still think Visine is better but I using DOS editors.

I don't know what's the difference between this one in the Board 2 uploader and this other one created by Twytch which is here.

I noticed that you change the cannon's GFX. And Protoman didn't have a shield until Mega Man III. At least it makes a lot more sense.

@Dr. Hell: You really know your ASM tools. Too bad I have 12% knowledge for Mega Man II hacking.

I dunno what came over me today, I started messing around with Mega Man in St. Canard and for some strange reason I'm learning how to use the scroll editor. So here's fireman's level in the beginning...

Don't worry about that glitch in the background, I need to get ridda more 01 objects but they're being an ass to delete. ^^;

It's not pretty easy messing around with Rock n' Roll editor. I had Guts man Crashed on my own hack. That's why I had loads of ROM backups. Good luck with it.

I guess yours is pretty better. Except his Palette number should be 16, not 26. There's only hack that can be patched with the US Mega Man II with unchanged Title Screens which is Megaman NEO by Tokkan Kouji. I'm currently doing a runthrough with Proto Man.

You mentioned that Twytch's Mega Man walking scene is incomplete. I better fix it a bit for my run's sake.

I'm not pretty much knowledge in Music and Sprite drawings either. That's why I stopped with my MegaGirl project temporarily. Even though people think my sprite drawings are OK but I think it's still isn't good as the other sprite polished hacks. And I was meant to set up an advertisement on RHDN because I still need help with the female robot Mega Man 1 drawings into sprite form drawn by GreenNinja.

I have a reason why I jumped into my Mega Man 4 Project but I never touched it the whole summer since that last update with the skull castle editing. Too busy with other stuff instead. I want to get back to my Mega Man IV project as soon as possible and not try to make it more fancy like Rockman 4MI.

I have only at least 68% as my guess in 6502 assembly coding terms but I can create most of it for MM4. I learned a lot from certain documentations.

But I would like to ask though. I know you have Time attack in your hack, what about Endless attack mode like Mega Man 9.

I know it's going to be pretty way long to finish until the future year but I wish you a best of luck.

Most of the stuff from my Mega Man 1 hack is also hex edited except Graphics and Level Editing. It's hard to make levels without a certain map editor to guide you. And so is my current Mega Man IV project I'm working on how. Skull castle editing is done witn custom Mega FLE X since hex editing by tile will take a long time.

Anyway, Mega Man III was my first game in my childhood years and got Mega Man IV on my 8th Birthday. But I chose Mega Man IV as my favorite and wanted to make it more decent like Rockman EXILE, Rockman Z and EXHAUST combined. Now MM3 is my 2nd favorite.

I would like to take a shot of Rockman Perfect memories since I see nice sprites of your boss characters for your hack. I should show them my crappy art of my MegaGirl 1 series drawn my me except Elecgirl which is 100% fine and Cirno is stolen from another hack after I drawn her.

I'm such a bad pixel artist.

I drink Kool Aid often so it counts as my favorite drink. Plus Orange Juice combined with YOR's Supergreens. I ordered that whenever I ran out of it.

I really like these advices/comments from Megaman-Omega and Thantoszero and I have their based Mugshots for MegaGirlAFS hack comparing to their art designed by GreenNinja except Gutsgirl. Mine isn't compared with kuja killer's 8 bosses art like on Rockman PM and is more polished. I really like Necro and Spike Man. Seems interesting.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a1/insectduel/MegaGirl1MugShot.png

I have a reason why I chose to abandon the project until next year after my Mega Man IV project. Not if the spriting but also the assembly work as well. Bommbgirl's AI behaviour still needs a bugfix but I really don't mind remaking their sprites from scratch.

Even though I can make their sprites 4 colors instead of 2 colors in a same palette index table (Like ElecGirl's hair being green like in the art), the whole sprites needs to be reassembled all over again. Most of them I drew is ripped with random hairstyle tiles from a different game and most of Roll's. Elecgirl is drawn by my brother by the way which remain unchanged.

Elecgirl, Possibly Bommbgirl, and Cutgirl seems okay. It's just needs a little palette swapping and reassembled a little bit.

Whatever I feel like working on my Megaman1 project again. I'll begin re-drawing but for now, I'm working with my MM4 long-term project.

@Durfar C: Damn, you really know how to make music. Finding the music data is easy for me but I cannot make music instruments. And Air Man's theme from Rockman World 2 is my favorite one.

I want to make one for my Mega Man IV hack sometime and ripped songs from Rockman Megaworld. I have Kega Fusion to rip music into .vgm and have .vgm converted into MIDI.

Making music with hex is soooooo hard and hard to rip instruments too. I'm no musician or a MIDI keyboarder.

Ahem, right now I am disapointed about the Dr. Cossack bug with Rock5easily's Haikei patch for Mega Man IV/Rockman 4 and re-released it. But mine turned out to be okay since I put the code in an empty freespace Hard-Wired. Proberly because of Matrixz's falsified unused random data offset.

That is why you cannot trust IPS patches even if you want the code for regional language versions of the game.

Mega Man Powered up for PSP doesn't compare to the original NES series and even CAPCOM remix the storyline.

Don't know why CAPCOM is doing this. Or even why they put Protoman as a playable character.

This hack is looking great so far! Keep up the good work guys. I played the Bolt Man stage and a lot has changed; I'd even say it's more extensive than Rockman No Constancy. My only gripe is how hard the outer tower stage is, what with the winds not cooperating half of the time.

I don't really know what else to say. I'm new to this website so... I guess I'll learn more as I visit?

Are you Raiyukazumori? Glad you decided to come here. You will proberly learn a lot from the community.

I don't have 100% knowledge in Mega Man III but I do most of MM4. A lot. But I do know how the data works. I wanna get back with MM4 project soon. And no one told me about the updated version of Effect Enemy EX since I played the updated version of Rockman Sparking to Hero last night. I have to recode the ASM back into my current MM4 hack I'm working on.

I don't know what newly added hex from the old one I kept in my hard drive.

The source code seems fine without IPS. But I wonder if I can do the same for the Super Mario All-Stars version. Yes, ALL-STARS.

I haven't touch my Super Mario Projects in a long time back in the old days, I used to hack SMB3 for SNES back in 2006.

Speaking of modifying Mega Man 3, I checked Puresabe's webpage about today and read the news. And also found that there's a bunch of Rockman 3 ASM patches pack in his homepage. Tonight I'll check them all. And I'm not sure if some of them also works with Mega Man III but I believe the IPS patch themselves do not due to memory or code shifting.

However, I can read NES 6502 assembly and I was able to convert the data to other regions of the game for people that needed it in their own game.

The following codes are:

Quick Fading
Instant Recover
Quick Opening Window
Quick Scrolling? WTF!

4 different ones and a few in Rock5easilys page.

Why not mix SMW along with Mega Man.

I'm only doing this for the contest at SMW Central.

Might I throw some info in?

The Mega Man IV data is the same, just in different locations.

If you see something you want to change in Mega Man III that you see in IV, look at the code in IV (The hex code (EG: 01 02 00 ff)) and then search for the same values in Mega Man III.

Hope that helps.

I'm sorry if that's a little unclear, but, you should be able to get the gist of what I mean I believe.

I already knew Mega Man IV sound/music data. And it's quite easy to rip Beat's sound from Mega Man V or VI or even Mega Man VI projectile's from Metools.

Composing music is never easy. I wanted all Wily Wars MM1 and MM2 themes in my Mm4DLC hack. And includes Mega Man from Game Gear's Bright Man.

@Mineyl And you quite work that much hard to design levels. Good work. Do you do All-Stars also? I saw that 1 level stage of yours.

Nothing much here but my SMW's Cutman stage. Music inserted will be there shortly.

One problem with that (Which I'm sure you're well aware), the music format in Mega Man I and II is TOTALLY different than III on.

They proberly use different mappers. Mega Man I and II uses MMC1 which they sound different.

I kinda notice that 2 different romhacks uses different tunes but same music.

Rockman World 4 Wily Boss theme uses with Rockman IIDX and Mega Man Forever and Wily Tower 4 from Rockman Megaworld uses with Rockman Z and Mega Man Forever.

@Insect: Interesting concept for your stage. Have you thought of using the Cutman stage graphics from Wily Wars?

And thanks. No, I'm not terribly interested in hacking All-Stars until an editor for it comes out (purely hex editing is beyond me currently; not that I can't do it, it's just too tedious to me), though I did use your SMAS SMB3 documentation to hack a few of my NES hack's levels into SMAS for a video on my Youtube.

I have to thank you for making all those notes, 'cause they also helped me with further understanding the NES version back when I was first starting.

It's not ripped from Wily Wars, it's Megaman/Rockman 1 from the NES. And it's hard to rip Sega Graphics into the SNES game. And you're welcome and glad that you did. I wanted people to hack the SMAS version of SMB3 and I did have a hack back in 2005 but removed in November 2007. And people started asking for requests of my deleted hack.

I seriously need to hack SMB3 for SMAS again. And after seeing so many SMB3 hacking screenies makes me want to do it again.
