That explains so much...

Does the game have characters at all?

I'm sorry but 175 stars? How do you manage that?
Gameshark. Apparently, each level has room for 7 stars to be stored in RAM.

It looks nice, SL64. Not sure if it's just the screenshots, but Luigi's cap seems to have a hint of red in the second and third ones, though.

My guess there, I think that is the shadow of the wings, or hat shading that isn't affected by sunlight. I'm also guessing Mario's has the same thing.
.

If you are using the cheat, the shading and the light are stored in diferent adresses. That cheat you are using is not overwriting the red shading value, so it's using the previous one, being in this case the default mario's cap color. You can easily fix it changing the red vaule too to 0 or something from the shading.

it's multiplataform, a version was released before 1992 and a port for another system was released after 1992.

Is it Mario is missing?

I don't like how smw is programmed. I have many ideas for hacks and features, but to use some of them them better just hack another game.

Hack plots
- A "Super Mario World: Air" hack, bassically using the same concept of the Air hack of SMB, an impossible game that requires loads of savestates, glitch abuse, get an exact amount of coins and time, etc.

- A hack where Dark Matter gets into the mushroom kingdom, and Mario becomes evil. Meanwhile for some reason kirby has lost his powers, but suddenly Luigi falls from dreamland's sky over Kirby. Kirby noticed that he can jump higher than before after that, while Luigi can't do anything. Confused, Luigi tries to explain Kirby everything. And they try to save the mushroom kingdom.

- Mario goes trough the other games worlds (Hyrule, Lylat, Dreamland, Zebes...) for whatever reason.

Some ideas
- Making a secret level like SMB (1-1 1-2 2-1 2-2 8-3 D-4) But only as a secret level.

- A volcano in eruption or an exploding base or whatever thing where Mario has to leave the place quickly. Like a lava layer 2 rising fast in a vertical level or a custom sprite generator generating explosions in random positions, If this happens in the middle of the level better.

- A hack that lets you save in a level, starting from that point when you resume your game. With this you could take away the overworld and instead make things like small levels with many pipes leading to the different levels. A completion of a level instead of sending you to the overworld acts as a secondary exit to the pipe that enters the level, and enables an exit in the next screen of the "map" level. As well as triggering some overworld event instantly. There will be custom blocks that appear when a certain overworld event is triggered, which would be the ones used for entering the levels.

- Elemental fireballs. Make mario always be able to shoot fireballs. By getting a custom sprite it will write a vaule to a RAM address. Depending of that vaule Mario's pallete will change and will shoot different things. The default will be Mario's normal pallete and won't shoot anything. Edit the fireball's code so it changes it's pallete depending of that vaule as well as it effect and propertipes, also something could be done to make it load the graphics from an ExGFX file.

YOU STOLE MY IDEAS! D:

got any problem with me reading your mind? =P

The overworld thing is actually inspired from Kirby's adventure. And mario in different games or kirby in mario from every other graphical hack and spin offs...

Super Mario Rape.
-A game that relies completely on various glitches and quirks to abuse the game in order to continue.
-It can be completed, but the task will be ridiculously difficult and will require patience and save states.
-Sometimes you must choose the path that looks like the wrong one, because killing yourself may be the only way to proceed.

Sorry, I didn't notice your post... ^^; Is a good idea anyways.

Ok, the 5 previous steps that we completed? We need to put them together.

Posted by Drag
I think step 1 was split into two parts.

Step 1: The zip file / extracting the rom.

Step 2: The rom itself, discovering it was a fake.

Step 3: This page, where you had to enter the url for the next step.

Step 4: This page, where you had to email okibi, explaining the quote and the image. Just telling him what they are, pretty much.

Step 5: This image Decyphering this image, and answering the question, and explaining how there's "dummy" info in the image that was useless.

So how do we put these together?

Also "Zelda freak knows more than he tells" wasn't important to solving step 5, but I guess it actually IS important as a hint.

Hmm... did Zeldafreak obtain the zelda 3 proto (rom or cart)?

"Email Zeldafreak to get the URL to where the rom is located"? Could be it.

That makes a lot of sense, Zeldafreak has the rom, which would be "zelda freak knows more than he tells".

To get there, you have to put the warp star to the right of the screen, where the sprites dissapear. Then make another sprite to appear in any way (wait for the shotzo to shoot or take away whatever power are you using), the warpstar will be replaced with that and you can go far to the right.

The black thing only visible is the pal version. I always though it was a door... and wondered where it'll take...

There are many glitches in kirby's adventure actually, like the "die in pause" glitch.

Those two warp rooms are cute... I don't remember seeing the tileset of the first one anywhare... (I completed the game a few moments ago, by the way) It looks like the rest of rainbow resort but the bubbles and fence are not anywhere else I think...

The dream spring... I think it's becouse is the same room used always, but there's something that changes which sprites are there...

(*)Some of the test arenas (If not all) are actually used in the game, but with different tileset. Maybe is just layout desings, or maybe those levels load those layouts. They are 4-5-6-3-2-?-?-?. The unknows ones might actually be unused ones for 1 and 7 (in thse levels metaknight just pops out in middle of a stage with a lollipop) and possibly proff that they might though of a world 8 (come on, it clearly says WORLD 8, there might even be stuff of that...)

The intro level using the boss music makes me thing it's the default music or something.

Those two puzzles look really interesting, specially the first one. Teir difficulty looks more high than the rest of the ones in the game, that might be why they were scrapped.
Again, I'm still thinking of a possible world 8...

The bosses are definatively very early stages. either to test stuff or to make a teaser video or something.

A hack of this game would be awesome...

(*) EDIT:

See what I mean? The three remaining rooms might correspond to the three (if we count level 8) remaining levels. The door may have been putted there becouse it used to lead to a room that the programmers used to access the other ones easily. (see that the door in the game isn't in those places)

Yes, I know every single pixel of this game ^^;

It just closes itself instantly after hitting the "PLAY" button... I tried in windowed and fullscreen, different resolutions, withouth sound, with different shadows... but it will just close itself.
Anyways, the game looks awesome. And actually it seems to be very well programmed too...
