That's interesting news indeed, considering that memory usage was one of my main concerns with Firefox (I still use it clenching my teeth though) so far. How's the porting of plugins coming along though (assuming any is done before release candidate stage at all)?

My main plugins:

Web Developer Toolbar, Stylish, and Greasemonkey are ported over... if that tells you anything.

I'm actually Irish and don't participate in this shit.

Same. I just think the whole wear green or get pinched thing is dumb. The other factors, however, are a different story.

I'm Irish and participate.

And St. Patrick's day isn't about wearing green and getting pinched, it's about going out, drinking Guinness, Killian's, Harp, Smithwick's, and every other Irish Beer on the planet, along with Irish Car Bombs if you have the balls to do so. Add a little corned beef and then you're set, the wearing green thing is just so kid's have something to do on this rather "adult" holiday.

I really have a problem taken anything from this study seriously. There were no control groups to compare the people against, they could have had a group of people go for a bike ride and see if that reduces stress levels and how they compare. Plus, it seems like it's pretty common sense, doing something that takes your mind off of what you're stressed about will reduce your stress levels...

You don't have to worry in Wi-Fi too much. The chance of getting there before it rumbles is slim. I'll see the time when it rumbles some point, which renders it useless, being unable to move, or move slower.

Rumbles: 53 seconds
Collapses: 1 minute, 5 seconds

Roughly

Actually, I've seen someone do this in wifi, they went backwards to the item boxes, and kept trying to get a mushroom, then went and did this, they only got around twice though, so they had to complete one full lap, but they still smoked everyone else.

I got my ass handed to me in Elementary Analysis and on the final in there, luckily, I won't have to take the class again.

Everything else I did respectable work in, A- in Design and Analysis of Algs, B+ in Software Engineering (mainly because all the assignments were group project and you were graded on how well you're group worked together, lets just say that I was the only productive member in our group, and since most the commits were done by me, he docked us points for not working as a group, freakin bullshit), and a B in Operations Research (Linear Optimization, Queuing Theory, Game Theory), would of been a B+ but instructor doesn't deal with + or - grades...

I guess I'll have no shame and say I got a C+ in Elementary Analysis, the class seriously was one of the crappiest classes I've ever taken and sucked every hour of my life away. And even after all the effort, you still wouldn't benefit (I got a 48 / 100 on one test, a 110/200 on the final). I'm just glad I don't have to take it again.

I guess for working full-time and for all these classes being upper level Math and Comp Sci classes, I shouldn't be too disappointed.

Done with my 3 week summer class, Sociology and got an A in that, working on Macroeconomics and Classical Mythology in the 5 week summer session right now, Myth should be an easy A, Macro might be a bit tougher but I think I'll pull it out.

BL: why do you need elementary anakysis? You're not a math major are you?

Just wondering, b/c that stuff is pretty much bread and butter of mathematics people but I can't see anybody else needing it, save maybe a physics major.

I am a math and computer science major, math mainly just because looking at my schedule of classes I only needed like 15 credits more of math to get a major, and it's probably beneficial to have a strong background in math for computer science. Most of the math classes I've been taking have had computer science application (see Operations Research, Discrete Math, Linear Optimization, Numerical Analysis) but then there's those like Elementary Analysis, which I enjoyed the course a lot, but with working full time and taking 9 other credits in fairly advanced courses I just really didn't get to bunker down and get it down. Actually I have been looking over stuff this summer from it and am kicking myself for some of the stuff I had trouble with... oh well.

And even with the math major, I didn't "need" to take it, it just happened that the course that is the replacement for Elementary Anal was full when it was my turn to register, and I needed one or the other to advance, so I got stuck in there.

But yeah... that's why I took it, and I am a Math major.

I'm from Nebraska, severe whether means go outside and watch the fun, not go run for cover. Since Ohio is kind in Tornado alleyish area, I'm surprised everyone went running for cover, but I guess I could see it. It is a Warning. Now if it was a watch, I'd seriously make fun of them in no time at all for being little sissy boys and girls... I here watch, I hate the weatherman for wasting my life with useless information, I here warning, I go get a lawn chair and enjoy the show.

Although, I did have parents that always made me go into the basement during warnings while they sat outside and watched. Maybe I was a bit envious or something.

/end endless babble

DD: So it'll work on Win/Linux, but what about Mac?

Supports most of .NET 2.0 (if not all by now, haven't checked), so it probably will work on Mac as well.

Can't claim to be a romhacker, or really have too much of a remote interest in doing so, but the patch server is an idea I'm surprised hasn't been done before (to this extent) and is a nice feature to have in an editor.

Really nice work here guys.

Just a tweaked Clearlooks theme, it's not too bad I think.

Not half bad, no. Out of pure curiosity (not that I'd consider getting anything like that myself...), what are you using for the pseudo-Mac OS X icon bar at the bottom?

Since we are talking about Linux desktop themes, screenshot get. Don't mind all the weeaboo stuff on there; since my Linux machine is the only one with larger amounts of free HD space left, I've been using it as a repository to relocate those things to in order to liberate some space on the main one.

The Mac like dock is AWN (Avant Window Navigator). Website here. Last I used it, it was a tad buggy, but that was a while ago mainly because I'm not a big fan of docks.

No they don't, they can't just put "look we have $1 trillion" into their computers and suddenly poof, they actually have that much. No, they only have what they actually, physically have. Otherwise the economy would collapse and etc etc.

Um... banks actually do "create" money, and they can loan out more than what they have on reserve. They don't have to have the money to back any loan they make, they only have to have a percentage of the money to back it, I believe whatever the reserve ratio is at. (Just took a Macroeconomics class). So yes, banks do create money, take an entry level Macro class and you'll be taught exactly how, I can go into more detail later on how it works when I'm back at home and have my notes to make exactly sure how it's done, but they do "create" money.

As far as debt goes, I didn't notice it when I glanced over this thread, but I know in at least the United States, the majority of the debt isn't to other countries, but to businesses, people, etc. in the United States in the form of bonds, and other things like that. That is where most of the debt is in the U.S. and I'm assuming it's similar in other countries as well.

How Banks Create Money
I call bullshit on that article. First of all, banks have never "created" money at all. It just doesn't fucking happen. If a loan is made for $90k out of a deposit of $100k by a customer, the bank does not have $90k. They have $10k until the borrower paid the money back. In this case the money comes from the borrower, plus some interest. That interest is what makes money for the bank.

In the article, it shows that the initial deposit of the customer is $100k. They went on to note that a series of other loans can be made off this deposit, this case totaling (after interest for the depositing customer) $238,900. Now, here's the funny thing, the money wasn't created. It still has to come from somewhere. In this case, the borrower's pockets. It is paid back with existing money in circulation. So how do they make money? They don't create it, that's for damn sure. They charge borrowers interest, and rates are based on the borrower's credit, and how well the banker is feeling that day.

So there you have it. The bank does not fucking create any money.

Seriously... banks do not have to have all the money to back a loan... just a small portion of it (around 10% if I recall correctly).... So where does the other 90% or so of the loan come from?
