For a 640 X 480 Fixed area, what is the proper offset to have a boss spawn at dead center of the screen? (Assuming position is fixed)


About 200 upwards in the editor. (The editor and game are reversed. Everything is flipped around when you do between them. It's weird.)

But yeah. 200 Is about what I do.

Not really, no. I originally went with that if I needed an event to occur "at death". Now I just go with durability being below 100-150.

Heh, it's interesting to me that people still use my wing. ^^ It makes me happy.

I'm going to have to make a new design for people....

Here are my thoughts on the boss.

I think you have the basics down very well. The bullets went a bit fast for me, but I don't make it a secret that I am terrible at playing Fraxy, so maybe it's just me being bad. You could maybe add some more form onto the main body of the boss, just for asthetics.

The bullet patterns aren't as much dull as they are the basics, I believe. Don't get too down on yourself for it, because it really takes time and work to know how to make crazy patterns like Ebo or Zarro. While you're working on a boss, just open up another Editor and play with the extraparams on a weapon until it does whatever crazy thing you want it to. That's my little method of madness.

So, Pretty much what I think is that it is a great first stage for a boss, but keep at it and it could be epic.


I do that a lot. Helped me a lot with Extania.

Ultima Comets; Strike and Blast

A two part battle, with a pair of Ultima Battleships.
This boss is interesting, and fairly well put together, but overall, I was trying way too hard. The attacks are very clever and unique for the most part, but they feel a bit forced from time to time, and can go by way too quickly in some cases. But overall, it was worth making. The Blast Comet is one of the best physical designs I've made to date, and I had a lot of fun designing the attacks. Next time I'll have to remember to make them more fun.

The giant fireballs are absurdly cool I like the way they seem to home in, and they're huge, but not too big xD


I take it you're referring to the Blast attack that locks onto the player and then explodes?

No, it's like a curved giant sliver of fire that shoots one at a time. On closer examination it doesn't seem to home in on the player.


Oh, that. It's a line of grenades fired one by one at the player, each one going further.
