Kaizo just means edited, though


I know that now, but it is what the word "Kaizo" means in video games now. The weight it caries is what makes me put it here... KP9000 helped me put this to words. I must give them a bit of credit. =p

Dunno about you, but I think words mean what they mean, not things arbitrarily assigned to them.


It is also a matter of overall community understanding. There are many other people like me that lack adequate knowlage of Japanese words and there meanings, so when a word such as "Kaizo" comes up, we need to give it a meaning to understand the point of a sentence. Kaizo just has the meaning of extreme difficulty set to it.

No matter how poor the word choice is overall, it still works because of the aforementioned. Not much I can do about that, so I mind as well take advantage of it.

I'm not really gonna do some make over hacks yet, since I still need more experience with the event scripts and stuff. I am however, adding some new contents to the game and changed some stuff around, like removing the menu and battle tut in the beginning .

Here's a palette swap of Culex as the sprite for my "DARK MAGE" super boss (The one that Culex mentions):

I think a SMRPG Hack, that would keep everything original to the Mario series, would be cool. I think that is something the original SMRPG failed to do...don't get me wrong though...the game itself is great and a treasure to the Mario series...but I think it could have been a lot better in some ways.
The idea I have would, of course, have Mario as the main character but you also could use Luigi, Toad, Princess, and Yoshi as characters to fight with in battles.

I'd love to see old enemies that were never really used for SMRPG too like Fire Bros., Boomerange Bros., Koopa Kids, Koopa Troopas (The regular ones), Para Goombas, Bullet Bill (Wasn't a fightable enemy), Nipper Plant, (Wasn't a fightable enemy), Thwomp (Wasn't a fightable enemy), and there are many others. I would just like to see some of the originality in it instead of some of these newer enemies and names that really never was seen in the Mario series. A SMRPG game that reflects on adventures from SMB, SMB3, and SMW.

I think that the Treasure Boxes in SMRPG would be cool if they were changed into the original Question Boxes, LOL! And different magic attacks would be cool too, like maybe Mario using his Raccoon tail to attack an enemy or something to that nature, and when Mario uses his fire ball attacks, let him change into his classic White/Red colors while he is doing that assault.

Anyways, all in all, I have a good idea for a new/old SMRPG hack but I just can't get use to using the Lazy Shell editor so it's something I wouldn't be able to do...on top of that, it is very complex too but if anyone would love to take up the concept and let me help out with it, I think it'd be a great hack!

I can't wait until 2.1 is released. I can start on my hack when that happens. =D

I played through it and I have to say... I can't wait. Custom images as attacks... Field limitations on attacks such as Breaker Beam... A Giant Pizza... I just cannot wait. It'll be the most epic Hack Utility ever released!


One question, though...

Spoiler:
How the hell are we supposed to beat the final boss? I mean... If I go invincible, so does he. Stupify does 213 damage to me, and I only have 209 HP. Am I supposed to use a White Wine first off? Even then, how do I survive the giant Pizza from hell? It did over 150 damage to the Mario in Lazy Shell v1.0's Test Mario, who has maxed stats and equipment... I had to cheat in order to win that fight...

You'll have to copy the character you want to create a stressed version of and paste it into an empty space or another unused character. The new version will support the use of every character except the one after Z. If you want to insert the character into dialogue, you can put its integer value between []. The new version will have a label that tells you what a character's integer value is when you hover over it in the font table.

I've been having an issue with battle formations lately. When I create a battle formation with more then 3 enemies, most of the time enemies 4-8 are glitched. For some others, however, I can have as many as I want. Any way to fix this or bypass it? I've tried summoning some of the enemies that glitch up, but they glitch up as soon as they appear. Any advice?

Yeah, do not attempt to mix large enemies with large enemies. The reason why they glitch is because of the VRAM. Some huge monsters consumes large VRAMs and uses a different VRAM index. If there are too many, they may also glitch.

I've learned this from experience.

I'm going to add a SMRPG hack tutorial on my blog soon. This should help you guys out.


Ah. That explains why you can have 8 Jinx but no more then 3 Cannon Enemies. I guess I'll just have to mix and match to see if I can manipulate the system to my will. =p

Can you tell I just activated my activity button? Question after question? Someone ask something to make me look less needy. XD

I just want to know if anyone else has an issue with bonus stats on level up. (Just to clarify, stats gained on level up work perfectly fine. It's the bonus stats you can choose from after the level up that I'm having an issue with.)

When I make a character, such as Peach, level 1, for levels 2-9, regardless of what I make the bonus, Magic Attack and Defence will not provide anything other then 0. This also effects Bowser (2-8), Geno (2-5), and Mallow (2 only). Oddly enough, all of the other stat bonuses (Hp and Physical) work fine.
