well i have read it. but it doesnt tell you what terms like partition mean and stuff like that so to me its like reading japanese. i have gotten it to work once when i was fooling around with it once but now i dont know


VRAM partition is a hardcoded index used by the ROM. This acts like a memory. When you put heavy gfx into the levels, they may glitch as the program won't recognize them. Sadly, there is a limit to how many and what you could put in the levels. Howbeit, editing the ROM via ASM hack could override this problem, but Lazy Shell is not designed to do this.

The key to make the gfx work is to order the NPCs from largest to smallest ie. Treasure Box before Goomba. There is not much of a problem when you assign small sprites, but the problem usually sets in when you insert large ones. Partition 85 seems to be perfect if you have 2-3 large sprites in the level.

This ASM thing is consuming my time. I manage to disassemble the ROM, but now, I don't know how to reassemble.. do I need a programming tool to do this? If so, what programs are best.

Sorry, I'm a noob in programming.

You don't need a tutorial to play SMRPG Remix. All you need is the Lunar IPS, a SMRPG ROM, an emulator (ZSNES) and the SMRPG True Remix patch. When you got these, Use Lunar IPS to patch the original (non-edited) SMRPG ROM with the SMRPG True Remix patch, then play the patched ROM in your emulator.

The SMRPG True Remix hack has been recalled by its author because of bug issues. He said he will re-release it when Lazy Shell 2.1 comes out.

It can be edited on Lazy Shell 2.1, but not on the current Lazy Shell 1.0. However, you may try hex editing. Giangurgolo has all the info you need on his site.

Set NPC type to "Battle", Set Trigger to "Do anything except press A". You'll enter a battle when you touch it.

However, if you're trying to insert it on Mario's Pad, the game is expected to glitch as it uses a script that runs an ASM scenario.

To remove the hardcoded event, change the event under Field tab to Event #15. I think this will screw up the transition from Bowser Castle to Mario's Pad though. Just pick another level if you don't want the thrown Mario event to be ruined.

The hack has progressed once again. It's now 10% complete. Did you guys saw these scenes from Kero Sewers? Nope, I guess not..

There is now a Frogog guards the entrance to the sewers. Careful, they are not the same as the Frogogs you've fought it the original Super Mario RPG.

The next scene shows 2 Ameboids that marches on one of the sewer's hallways. In the original, you could only fight them in Smithy's Factory. Now, you can fight them earlier. They are perfect fit for a dirty sewer.

The Ameboids still possess the durability, the poison attack (Viro Plasm), and the ability to replicate. These naughties give up Slime once you beat them.

I use jpg because I can save it in a reduced file size. Around 60-50% of the original quality.

Thanks for the tip though, I will use pngs in the future.

As for the hack, I'll submit it on this forum as soon as I can get it done. It's not actually a TC, it's just a modified or rather expanded version of the original. I have also included Giangurgolo's magic items in the hack so expect Mario to jump real high.

That's weird, it's supposed to work unless you mess up with the scripts. Try hacking a clean ROM, and see if the problems persist.

I already edited Kero Sewers and it's working fine for me.

However, our PCs don't share the same OS, so I'm not sure.

Go to Sprites, and edit the dialogues. That's all there is to it.

If you want to attach a dialogue to a certain character, go to scripts, and enter an event script.. Just take a peek into already existing events that has a dialogue in them. Copy the procedure, and apply it to your script.

Be careful though. Lazy Shell's event script editor is kinda buggy. It sometimes alter the memory codes. It could ruin some scripts and make your game glitch.

I would like to add a bug report on Lazy Shell v.1.0

1. Event Script Editor ruins the memory partition once you overload the event script with a lot of commands.
2. Level Editor ruins the memory partition if yo edit the last two final maps 1FE and 1FF. Once you do this, you won't be able to access the World Map levels.
3. Formation Pack also glitches if you change the first formation 0.

I've tried the hack.. and all I can say is WOW!

The Spell Animation Editor is a work of wonder. I can't wait for its release.

Btw, I've also tried editing it through hex.. and man.. it gave me a headache. It's a ladder type sequence. It's too troublesome.. I guess I'll just have to wait.. how many days more btw? I wish it would be soon..

I would even pay for it if you release it now.

#1 There's nothing can be done with the shadow. The only thing you could do is to change sprite behavior "sprite shadow" to another one, but this will make the sky troopa look as if it's walking.

#2 Once the below hp trigger has been met, there's no way to cancel, let alone with another trigger. Unfortunately, there's no trigger capable of canceling it unless Hammer Bro recovers his HP.

Anyway, try "if target is dead" trigger, set it to the sky troopa (monster x). Then set a different command. I haven't tried it yet though, and I dunno if it's gonna work. You may need ASM hack to do the trick.

The event script editor has a lot of parsing errors..

Editing major scripts will instantly cause a crash somewhere in the game. I also notice that adding new events will automatically bug mario's palette color after fighting punchinello. Editing the event 593 (Palette change to black) will shift the memory addresses and will affect the Midas River hardcoded events.

Hope this can be resolved..
