And why am I not worthy of nomination for replacement drunkard?

I was drinking back when Nick was still a wee lil' pup.

I have a long list of things to do too but it includes a lot less games

I have to do a design for a client
I have to write a job application
I have to do a home inventory
I have to finish filing
I have to do my dishes (again)
And my washing (again)
I have to set up my KVM and then reinstall Windows on my Windows computer
If the KVM doesn't work for my set up I have to sell it
I have to fix my iBook

Blah... I have to go to work

Yes, publicly announcing that you are procrastinating should -- in theory -- help provide a guilt trip because you don't want to look worse in public.

Let's see if this plan of yours works, slacker

The site for that is made of flash.
The site for that is made of fash.
The site for that is made of faih.
The site for that is made of fail.

In other news, it's... sorta 'meh. Touchscreens are sorta nothing new to me.

It isn't a touchscreen. I believe the technology actually uses something like 6 cameras to detect the touch / motion / devices placed on the Surface. To actually be able to pinpoint things the entire surface is bathed in light but so they don't ruin the effect it's infrared light.

And I am with Ailure, this is pretty interesting.

Yeah, I agree - you need a hobby or something to do.

And yeah, I don't post much, cause I usually don't have much to say. I'll let you know when I do though

There aren't many products in existence that allow multiple touches on the same "touchscreen". The Surface is one that has been announced, the iPhone is another, and there is one other one whose name I cannot think of right now.

Personally I am just happy to see technology moving in this direction. I want to see more things like this. This seems like a move to interfaces which people are likely to have less trouble with. People "get" touching stuff.

Not that I have any problem with complicated systems -- but I know that not everyone is like me, and I want to see more systems that just about anyone can mess with and do things.

The idea of putting a camera down on the Surface and having the photos "spill" out of it is something I think nearly anyone can understand. Shuffling them around with your fingers, I think just about anyone can understand. To put them on your mate's phone, just move them to your mate's phone.

I don't see what's so terrible and wrong about that. Unless you want computers to be hard for just anyone to be able to use and show people photos or music or data, what is the problem?

Every thread I've read on this forum today has degenerated into the perverted musings of young boys. I was hoping a thread on Star Wars might be different.. but no.

It isn't my fault I find the Twilek's to be an interesting race. They have built in handle bars.
Could you please go get laid or something so I don't have to keep reading your dirty thoughts?

I guess so. I didn't notice that it had two centres until it had all dried up either though.

This is why I buy frozen chopped onion now too. I don't use enough onion when cooking for only myself... so things like this happen and food goes to waste. D'oh.

I don't have it a lot because it's a little expensive though.

Never seen them before, I guess not available in Australia.

I prefer to cook anyway, that way I know what is in the meal. Who knows what preservatives, fat, sugar and salt is in that...

"mouse support included." You KNOW it's old when they're bragging about stuff like that. Oh, and the monitor and mouse aren't even included! Most companies these days wouldn't dare to sell a computer without a mouse. Maybe without a monitor if it's a cheap one.

This sorta reminds me of the Commodore 64 my dad had way back when. 64 KB of RAM.
The Mac Mini comes without a keyboard, monitor or mouse. Of course, the idea of that is they are marketing it at people who already have these things...

A few other companies make "headless" computers too.

And I remember when mouse support was a big thing. My first computer had a mouse, but it was unusual for the time. My first computer also had a GUI -- GEM.

Yeah, they've mentioned it all works on mostly existing consumer tech.

And lol, now we get to the real issue -- you guys don't want your porn "falling out" of your camera

Given that we don't know much about how the system works right now aside from a few videos, how do you know that there's not systems in place for privacy and security?

Some of the businesses I hear of with work I'd never heard of before working in Government. I don't think I can give you names though.

There are lots of computer businesses around here with small niche markets though.

I also like the data cable company called MIMP around here. MIMP of course meaning Money In My Pocket.

Has anyone actually heard of IntelliMouse? I mean, I'm certain LOTS of people use IntelliMouse mice, but I don't think a lot of people actually know what it is.

Microsoft's line of mice are called "IntelliMouse"

Should we perhaps have an FAQ with this question in it by now?

I don't mind you asking, of course. But it has now been asked almost on par with "How do you pronounce Acmlm?" So perhaps it could become part of an FAQ.

I would say the reason there is a Safari for Windows is development. I know, I know, Steve Jobs did mention Market Share during WWDC, and that might be some of it, but I think it's more development.

One of the key features of the iPhone is the ability for it to use web applications in Safari. But not everyone who develops for the iPhone will be on Macintosh.

At any rate, I'd hold off seriously using it for the moment. There are some vulnerabilities in it and some weirdness (it is a beta). I also hear it's not fond of things like proxy authentication.
