The main menu's level is the "demo" level that shows in the main menu, with Mario playing it.

This level can be edited in Lunar Magic - it's the level #C7.

It is easy to figure out that Mario follows predefined moves.
If you move the first ? block upwards, the shell thrown by Mario will not reach it, Mario will not get Yoshi and he will die farther along, when meeting the Koopas.

When he dies, the game shows the "Game over" screen, and then, you can play the demo level, just like a normal level, even though you have 0 lives.

However, this level has no end, which means it cannot be completed.
If you die, the live counter will show a "P5", then "P4" and so on. It's just that the counter is an unsigned number and wraps to the highest value when the live counter is negative.

Also, if you die, you'll return to the beginning of the level.

I've tried adding an end to the level. Doesn't help. If you reach whatever end, you'll just return to the beginning of the level.

What it means is that, if Mario dies in the menu, you're stuck in the menu level.

That is my first experiments with Lunar Magic, as well as doing crazy shit in the first level.

But then, if it's possible to edit the predefined path followed by Mario, then it could be possible to edit the level. But it'd require ASM hacking surely.

Note that when you've bombed all the Dodongos on the page, it plays the Item Get jingle. Also note that they may be hidden out of range and ignore your scrollbar.

If you click them fast enough, the jingle can play two or more times.

But it's fun.

To be honest, most pedestrian crossings here go Red, Red/Yellow, Green, Yellow, Red.. but that's likely to stop people from running over any last-moment dash crossers since some people dash across just as the light turns red to say "don't cross".

Yeah.

So I guess we should rename this board to Road2.

What I also absolutely love is the secret areas. They're even more secret that in NSMB DS.

So that now, when we play, we try to go on every ledge to see if it's not hiding a secret area. Hell, we saw one in that World 2 level with the wind, saw a ledge we missed, and replayed the level about 5 times or so before finally noticing that ledge was hiding nothing.
