Good luck getting my original right.

hear-you, though said as fast as possible.

Also Koitenshin: Really, even now, after your post, I still pronounce your name as "dumbshit".

That seems to be the most popular.

Ironically enough, that's also incorrect yet close. I'll just have to yank a sound sample soonish if no one gets it. :\

Another popular one.

And another no.

Guess no one knows the rule on that one. I was surprised too when I figured out the actual pronounce.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think it's probably closer to hee-roo, as I remember being told once that ryuu/ryu made a "roo" sound...

There were a few at my High School who pronounced it as "EX-eeoo-gred". I wanted to slap them.

Its 'Zeogred'.

Eh, I won't let you guys dangle. :\ Kles was closest.

The 'r' isn't actually stressed as you would think it'd be. Last I checked, 'hiryuu' came out something like 'hee-lee-oo'. Check that out next time you play KOF '97 (or similar) and use Billy Kane. That or watch Ranma ½'s first movie with Ranma and Kirin at the end in the actual Japanese language. There are others, but those are the only two I can think of right now.

I didn't know 'r' was 'l' for a long time...but watch someone prove me wrong. :\

It's more an issue of how the Japanese pronounce the sound which we frequently transcribe as "R". It's more towards the front of the mouth, almost like an "L" that doesn't quite connect.

See this video at about 1:16 for proper pronunciation of Hiryuu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdALXCgbKXs

I pronounce Xkeeper as Alex. And if the sauce is any indication, hee (as in knee or knights of ni) ree (same) you. Emphasis on the hee.

Also, kee (same again but shorter) ju (but with more u and less o) foo.

'blackhole' '89'

As in the astrophysical phenomenon and the number. While the "blackhole" part stays unchanged, I pronounce the number part in the respective language I am speaking in at the moment (i.e. I'm blackhole-"neunundachtzig" to German-language real-life friends)

Anya: I actually have no idea how to pronounce your name correctly in English
