Since it lowers your speed, I know, so technically you don´t need it.

That's not why, Traps. It's because the Power Items are better.

The Power Items give +4 EVs to a stat after a battle, regardless of what you're fighting or your pokerus status. Only problem is, you have to collect the set of 6, as opposed to just one Macho Brace, and they want 16 BP a piece. Oh yeah, they lower your speed like the Macho Brace does

It appears that my CSS broke...
Both of the guides by Prima say that the honey trees have different odds of attracting rare pokémon, any idea which are the best?

Me.

Hell, I've waited days for a shiny pokemon, still in the same area on gold waiting for something D:

I never searched for Shinies, I just found one. On gold mine was a silver Natu. I also was able to find a Pokerus Pokemon on gold, but by accident.

Aside from the Gyarados, the only other wild shiny I ever saw was a Misdreavus outside Mt. Silver in Gold. Don't spend forever in one area waiting for a shiny, or it'll destroy your will to survive.

Of course, then I glitched a shiny Ditto into existence in Yellow, transferred it, and started breeding loads of new shinies.

(Basically, to glitch a Ditto to shiny status in R/B/Y, take your red Gyarados, transfer it back, teach it Mimic. Then find a Ditto, let it transform into Gyarados; Mimic the Transform, use it on Ditto. Then wait until Ditto transforms again; catch it after that, and it'll be a shiny with the same IVs as Gyarados had, although you'll only be able to see it in G/S/C/Sta2.)

Yeah, I'm a bit off of my National Dex, too. I need the honey ones, a couple odd evolutions (Machamp/Golem/Alakazam, Gible's evos, etc.) and the legendary trio.

Question.
Why does everyone use Curse when Bulk Up does the same thing without the speed lowering? I'm sure Snorlax can learn Bulk Up...

Snorlax can't learn Bulk Up so that's why people use Curse for him. Besides, lowering Speed on him won't hurt him that much since he is slow to begin with.

On a few Pokemon, Curse would be used because of its synergy with Gyro Ball.

I don't know how common that is, but looking at it on paper would suggest it works well.

Pokerus and Macho Brace is the best way to go about EV training if you have Pokerus available, since the power items will only give you +4 and the most you can get with those is 10 EV's, Pokerus and Macho Brace allow for a max 12 EV's.

Now the best way to start EV training IMO is to use Vitamins on your Pokemon, then begin training, others would be to train it to level 99 then give it all it's EV's so when it levels up again (through battle) it will gain all it's effort values, rare candies don't take into account EV's so using them to elevate to level 100 is a waste of a rare candy, they're only good up to level 99 because if you use it on level 100 they wont gain all their EV points.

If they didn't change anything with D/P, you can still EV train L. 100s. Just put them in the PC and take them back out and their stats will recalculate.

Can't do that in D/P.

But can't you just rare candy your pokemon until it's a reasonable level to pwn the pokemon you're EV training against, do all of its EVs, then rare candy it the rest of the way?

Rare Candies don't calculate EV's, they're still there, but they wont be taken into effect if you use them.

Rare candy to a reasonable level, do EVs, level up, rare candy rest of the way?

No, I believe it's safe to use Rare Candies to level up to 99, then you must level up the Pokemon to level 100 to ensure it will obtain all of it's EV's.

If I had a level 50 pokemon with all its EVs maxed out, would it only get half the stats from EVs?

I am fairly certain that (3 + 4) * 2 > 3 * 2 * 2.
