Fun fact: back in the GSC era, I hatched a shiny Cleffa from the egg that the daycare couple gave me.
That's because the egg given out by the daycare couple in Crystal when you first get there has a good chance of being shiny.

Well, better than normal. Of course, if it isn't shiny, it absolutely sucks. Straight 0 IVs, compared to the shiny's 7AAA, if I'm not mistaken.

I have 7 Shinies, and 6 of them have been caught in D/P 1 was captured in Ruby, otherwise I have yet to see any shinies that I don't have already on Crystal (Gyarados, Ditto glitch) and on Gold, only shiny I can remember actually finding in the wild and catching was a Rattata... I had a game shark so I can't remember which on my actual game copies were shiny legitimately...

On roms I found a shiny Slowpoke, a shiny Voltorb, a shiny Clefa and Igglybuff, Weedle, and some other normal type but I can't remember which it was...

Back on the DP subject though... I really can't wait till I get wi-fi... I need to check IV's on a lot of my Pokemon and I really don't feel like raising a bunch of Linoones to level 90 to pick up Rare Candies more frequently...

Speaking of the Pick Up ability, I thought it was 100% random chance. Did they change that for D/P?

No, they changed that when Emerald came out. Now, the Pick Up ability depends on what level the Pokemon is. The higher the level, the better the stuff you receive.

No, what you get depends on the Linoone's (or whatever pokemon you use) level. There's probably a chart on serebii.

If that was true, it would be hard to get good items in D/P. The highest level of any CPU trainer would have to be your rival when you have rematch with him near the Battle Tower. His pokemon are around their mid 60s or early 70s.

That's what I thought, thinking it was impossible to get an EQ TM.

Gods. What will it take to get it through your heads? Serebii is a bad site. It is very slow. It is often inaccurate. Its tools are substandard. And most damning of all, the person who runs it is a total asshole. There are many, many better places to go for your information.

That site also disables your right click unless you kill javascript, which infuriates me to no end.

Here's a pickup chart. It's a wiki, so I'm sure I'll get a whole bunch of "lol accuracy" for this, but I DON'T CARE DFGGGGGGD

Sweet I just looked at one of My Pokemon to day and it has Pokerus!

I was out with my Seadra just going around trying to catch some Pokemon for a chain breeding I needed to do... after I got all I needed something told me to look at my Pokemon... I somehow knew my Pokemon had it without actually knowing, I'm guessing that Meditite I fought right before I caught my Medicham had it... because it was the only thing that made physical contact with my Seadra and the Smeargle didn't have Pokerus. So that's 7 shinies and Pokerus... talk about luck.

I've never gotten Pokerus and never will.

The only special things I've ever gotten were:

A shiny Sentret in GSC
A shiny Cleffa from Crystal
The forced shiny Gyarados from GSC

And that's it.

I´ve got pokerus in 2 pokémon games. One of the GBA games and in Diamond. But I´ve only found 1 shiny in the advance generation. Gloom in FireRed.

I played Crystal/Silver on the computer and got at least 4 shinys in those games.

What is pokerus?
It's a virus.

If infected, the game says that your Pokémon will grow faster.
In reality, any and (almost) all Effort Values earned by the infected Pokémon are doubled.
If you're Effort Training it's invaluable...

Not like it's hard to level in the first place, heh.
Well, atleast until you get to the elite four.

It doesn't effect how fast your Pokemon level. It effects their effort values.

Your pokemon's stats are determined by three things:
- Base stats. Every pokemon species has a different base in each of the stats (HP, Attack, Special Attack, Speed, Defense, Special Defense). Every time your pokemon levels, it gains a portion of its base stats. So if you have base 100 attack, you gain one attack per level.
- Individual values. Each pokemon's base stats are raised by a random number from 0 to 31. Each individual pokemon has 6 of these at random.
- Effort values. Each pokemon species is worth a certain amount of EVs. For example, killing a Bidoof gives you 1 HP EV. When your pokemon kills one, it gains that many EVs. For every 4 of them in a given stat, your pokemon gains one of that stat. Your stat gains from this happen at level up. You can gain a maximum of 255 EVs in a given stat, and 512 total.

EVs are a huge portion of your pokemon's stats, and serious competitive battlers make sure their pokemon have the specific ones that'll best help it do what the want it to do.

These same people generally want to raise a pokemon from egg to level 100 and get all these EVs. A pokerus doubles how fast you can do this. This is a Good Thing (tm).

Yeah, it will help you gain EVs faster. If you have Pokerus and the Macho Brace, you can get 4 EVs from Pokemon that would normally give you 1, 8 EVs if they normally give you 2, or 12 EVs if they normally give you 3.
