I'm planning on picking up Pearl, but I've heard ugly rumors about communications problems between different regions... I already have the european Ruby and Fire Red, will I be able to transfer pokemon from these to an american Pearl? And if I'm not, will I then be able to use an european Pearl to participate in those pokemon events in the US, and get those event-only pokemon? How about Ranger compatability? I've been meaning to pick up that, but will I be able to trade the Manaphy egg to a Pearl cart from another region?

Ah yeah, and as for the starter, definitly Chimchar.

I got Diamond not to long ago and I'm lucky I pre-ordered it because they didn't have any left for people that didn't. I would have to say that I am really enjoying it so far and look forward to going on Wi-Fi once I think I'm good enough.

I didn't pre-order it...

Right now, I'm restarting my brother's game to restart since he already continued, then will catch all his old Pokemon.

I still haven't seen one Pokemon Center yet. I just got Piplup.

I went to a store today that had about 30 copies of Diamond and 10 of Pearl. Strange.

I have Pearl on my flashcart right now.

If I was going to buy it, I would have been able to at about noon - and with plenty of stock to spare too.

Then again the store could have gotten 100 copies and been well on their way to selling out too.

I'm almost at the second gym. My friend found the first poke' he saw was a Shiny Starly. He wouldn't stop yelling.

Both guides suck supremely. None NONE have a movedex or a stat-dex in the back like they used to. Blasphemy.

I'm playing Pearl on my emulator right now. One thing I found weird is how the outside is now 3D and the inside of the houses is still 2D. It makes things look really weird but I guess I'll get used to it.

Gamestop was dead when I got there yesterday, around 8:30ish. So I picked up my Pearl and departed; I'd have made another reservation, since it seems like if nothing else their job security is tied to their reservation count, but I had $7 to last me the week.

... but it wasn't dead half an hour before, I heard. 25 people were waiting, and there were over 100 reservations... I guess I don't live around a bunch of crazies that camp out for the games they reserve.

And keep in mind that 25 is enough to fill the store; this is not a big Gamestop.

Ya that can be a bit weird.

Overworld = 3D

Inside Houses = 2D

Gyms (and maybe a few other special buildings I haven't gotten to yet) = 3D from a different view.

Just picked up Pearl. It's really awesome. I chose Turtwig and have been playing for about 2 hours now. A very fun experience.
