I've only been in a car accident once, around 2001 or so.

...Is there a rest of this story?

look at her post count. there probably isn't even a story.

Way to be insulting, jeff. Come on, I thought you were better at subtle (yet true) insults! That's just plain obvious. Try harder next time.

I was hit by a car back in 199X, right about when Megaman was blowing up some dumb robots... it wasn't anything really special minus the guy just up and leaving (leaving a business card of all things), but you really do black out at even the simplist incident...

(I only had a bit of a bruise on my right arm...)

I did get hit by a tractor once. Fortunately it was moving very slow, and I was able to duck under the middle so as not to get run over. I escaped with only a sore back. I was a dumb kid, maybe 6 or so, and was sitting in the middle of the driveway just below the top of a big hill, re-attaching my shoe. By the time I heard it coming it was too late.

My dad's been in a few decent wrecks. One a good while ago was in this nice little car we'd just been given (it was junk at first, so it was free, but he fixed it up pretty well). Hit an ice patch, did a 90, then did a 180 the other way, then flipped into a ditch. Landed with a tree stump nearly removing the ears of him and the guy in the passenger seat. They were alright but the car was totaled. A shame, I liked that car, and it probably would have ended up mine... but eh, he survived, can't complain.

A more recent incident was at an intersection nearby. 2 lanes going his way and 2 lanes the other way, fairly busy. Some idiot runs a red light thinking he can cut across all 4 lanes. Gets smashed before he even gets through the first, goes flying across the intersection into my dad's fender. Genius ended up in the hospital, the other driver had minor injuries, and dad just drove off with a dented fender. Pickup trucks are nice that way.

The most recent incident, I was actually there for. Driving a CO2 transport in the back roads around 2AM, I notice a deer right in the middle of the road (not the lane). I guess he didn't see it, but a few seconds later, *THUNK* wtf? We backed up and there wasn't a trace of the thing. It must have smacked into the wheel and been literally thrown back into the woods. Didn't leave a dent, blood stain, anything.

I think the only other "major" car-related incident I've been in, if you can call it that, was the school bus running out of gas.

2. Rear-ender
I was up in the mountains at the time, working for an extermination company (I expressed extreme concern for the condition of the brakes, and 2 months of hounding and bitching later, nothing was done) and a good friend. There was this dumb fuck indian driving an old Ford F-100. I was coming up on him, on a green light. For some reason, he was going slow, so I tapped my brakes a little. Instead of speeding up, like I thought he was going to, (It's a green light, fuckface) he slammed on his brakes like a dumb shit. I would have had plenty of time to stop, but the brakes were bad and they slipped. I just slammed right into him. The first thing I did was call the cops, and then I handed the indian my boss's business card. Nobody was hurt. (This isn't really a close call, because it was just an indian.)
Racism ain't cool.

I used a poor choice of words. Indians are cool. It's the *illegal* aliens I don't like. And that's not really racism, even though most of them are Latino. But this isn't debate, so if something else needs to be said, talk to me in IRC or PM or something...

On-topic: There was a time when I used to ride BMX bikes to get around, race, jump, and do stupid shit like that. Come to think of it, I still do from time to time. About 10 years ago, I was racing a buddy of mine down a residential street. Not busy, right? That's what I believed, because typically, it wasn't. So we started off in our race, and we got going pretty fast. You know those "bear claw" pedals with the steel tips to help you grip? Well, I slipped off of it for some strange reason. My right leg took the weight of what the left leg had lost... only for a moment. The pedal had jammed right into my shin. After screaming in pain, still rolling on my bike, I looked up to see my friend look back, and then look forward at a car coming our way. The car passed him, and came straight at me. Apparently the driver didn't see either of us, and I couldn't get my leg dislodged from out of the pedal. Finally, at the last second, the driver spotted me as I broke free of the pedal, and swerved off to the side. I crashed into a bush in someone's lawn, holding my shin until the driver got out and called my parents. I think it could have been a lot worse, but it still fucking sucked.

Synopsis: People are either stupid, bad drivers, or both

Does anyone here have any really great crashing stories?
no crashes that i've been in, but i've seen some nasty ones.

i was with my dad in his semi (we were in pennsylvania) on the turnpike and we saw two accidents that day.

one invovled a camper that had caught fire and eventually exploded (nobody hurt) but still looked freaking awesome. a gigantic automotive fireball!

the next was a bit fatal. there was wreck in which a car spun out, hit the median, and rolled multiple times eventually coming to a stop upside-down. we were backed up for almost an hour and there were multiple ambulances on-scene. we eventually found out the driver had died. the car was completely destroyed.

the only crash i've been in was sliding at 10 mph through the snow (i tried to stop to let her by, she had the right of way) into a girl's car. Fifteen-hundred dollars down the drain

Dunno if this is late enough to be considered a bump, so excuse me if so.

But... You say you were stopped at a red light, and somehow this guy STILL hasn't seen the red light even after other people have been stopped at it already? This comes to me as hilarious.

I imagine this guy is in his car fapping and is so into it that he doesn't realize he's about to impact a dozen moving cars at an intersection with bright warm colors hanging on large poles. xD

Funny stuff.
