Here is where you can post how you found your way to this little old place we call Acmlm.

I actually found my way here by Peardin's Kirby vs. ShyGuy. I was surfing google images randomly for funny & cute video game pictures (this was before the boards split), and I searched 'Kirby'. I was flooded with strips from the comic, and I checked it out. It was lol to the max. I stood in the shadows for a while, just reading the comics, and finaly I decided to join. By the time I did, however, the boards had split, and I was on ||'s board. I stayed there for a bit, then I got banned becouse of one reason or another, and then I moved here.

There you have it. Thanks Peardin, you are the whole reason I'm here!

Boredom led me to this site. I'm going to quote myself yet again.

I was looking for ROM hacks to play because all of my old games were starting to get boring. It was the middle of summer 2005 and I had nothing better to do. Using Google brought me to Acmlm's and I joined just to ask how to use those ips files.

I never did see myself still being here after nearly 2 years. I don't plan on leaving anytime soon.

Well, I had been screwing around making stuff with Zelda Classic, and searched google for something similar but for mario or final fantasy (don't remember which, we're talking three years ago here) this lead me to acmlm.overclocked.org, which lead me to the forums (2nd incarnation at the time), and I popped in and out over the last three years. I decided to come back again, saw the mess that was ||board, and decided to head over to romhacking.net instead, where I checked the links section, and found this board, my entire story relating to acmlm's.

EGM -> Challenge Games -> Acmlm's ROM hack domain -> Hello

Honestly, my life story is rather boring.

Mine went from Zophar's to random emulation sites including ZSNES and then lead me to Ace's ROM Hack Domain.

Oddly enough, however, I wasn't really interested in registering on the board to talk to anyone until I started beating up records in the old Strange Mario Bros. scoreboard that he used to have. I sent him an email with the old movie file from Nesticle in it. I never got a reply.

I regged on the board solely to bug him about it.

Coming on five years in two days, I doubt he's read that email since.

A while after getting into emulation, I somehow thought it would be kinda cool to have a Secret of Mana map editor.
I googled for the above words, which brought me to FuSoYa's Niche (he had both a "map editor" and "Secret of Mana" on it).
Lunar Magic seemed kind of interesting to me.
Somehow (I think it was linked somewhere on his site) I got to the board and went hai2u;;.

Who knows, but he did (recently) remove the "Acmlm's Board" from his links... he isn't entirely dead, at least.

Let see if remember correctly...

I was searching on the Internet for a SMW editor after the original game was easy to beat. It lead me to FuSoYa's homepage and Lunar Magic.

Then I find Acmlm's Board and lurked for about 2 years until I decide to register in 2006. After seeing the ||board, I came to this incarnation.

Dunno. It says on his site he needed to restore data from a backup because of hard drive failure. Sounds like it'll take a long time for things to get organized.

Now, how I found Acmlm's... Well! I started my SMW hack in 2001, which is still in development even today. It was later in that year I'd stumbled upon the ROM Hack Domain. I wasn't really interested in playing hacks, so instead I registered presumably to get suggestions for mine.

Oblivious to the whole 'split', I'd made a post or two on the very last day of the third incarnation (those are on ||bass's archive). I soon noticed the board went down. Then ||board showed up a short time later on that same URL. Of course, I registered. No one told me right away about this place however.

Some time afterward I gotten word of another board. I lurked on it a few days, being skeptical about the "Acmlm's Board II" idea. I eventually make an account here. Therefore I remain neutral, posting as usual on both sides of the split.

1. I discovered Lunar Magic.
2. I needed help, so I went to my good friend: The internet.
3. I found these forums (the old old version), and they ended up being great.
4. I joined when my interest in ROM hacking re-developed, which was in early 2006.

I can't remember that. It was sometime in July 2006, I think...

In opinion, I think this is how it happened. I was going around, looking for ROMs, then I found a Super Mario World .rar file with many hacks,
including Xkeep's Oddysey and, uh, guy's ChaosCompleteXX. Naturally, seeing the hacks compelled me, and I searched for "Editors".
It took a while, but then I found a link to Lunar Magic...on www.acmlm.org.
Then the slingshot effect occurred, and I got here. Unfortunately, I started off dumb, as I was all about entertaining the opposition.
Now I'm closer to average than I was, but still below.

And to end this, I hold a terrible secret. And I won't be posting about it, either.

One day not to long after I got my first computer I was on Google searching random things. I searched for "Super Mario Bros. 3" images and as I looked through the results I saw an image that was nothing like the original game. I click the link and it took me to Acmlm's site (which doesn't seem to be up anymore) which is where I found a link to this board. It's thanks to that one picture that I joined this board and started ROM hacking. It's been a good 4 years and I look forward to many more

--TRANSMISSION START--

04-03-05: Searching RomReactor (now dead ) for some games for my SNES collection. When I was in the 'S' section, I came across all those "Super Mario x" hacks. I downloaded a lot of them, and had fun with (most) of them, the SMW+ series especially.

04-05-05: Downloaded more SMW hacks, Adamant's old joke hack among them. When I finished it, it mentioned a place called "Acmlm's ROM hacking domain". Promptly googles.

04-06-05: Finds the Acmlm RHD, notices a program called Lunar Magic 1.42, sees SMW in it, and thought, "Awesome." Promptly downloads and installs.

04-07-05+: Found Acmlm's Board, second incarnation, joined under present name. Proceeded to ask numerous n00b questions about SMW hacking, namely, "ExGFX?" Surprisingly, it was Kyouji/Alastor who answered most of my questions. He wasn't such an ass back then, either

09-1?-05: Joined the Ice Board, which was much more active back then, and had a much more Acmlm-ish userbase.

11-0?-05: Sees Xk's takeover, thinks, "WTF?", goes into a panic, runs away, joins Antireality for the duration of the database crash. Gains slight hatred of Xk.

11-21-05: Rejoins Acmlm's Board, (3). Still has no clue how layouts worked.

04-11-05: Joined Keikonium's Board.

04-25-06: Sees Kei's attemted takeover. Anarchy ensues. Thinks they had it coming. I almost thought of defending Kei's actions, but seeing what happened to andres, well... I went inactive for roughly 2 months, keeping only to Ice Board. Gains extreme hatred of Xk.

06-1?-06: Finally made a decent layout. I took the opportunity to come back to Acmlm's, since the whole Kei thing had died out. I saw I wasn't banned, even though I flamed Xk's secret IB accounts multiple times, so I sat down and kept my mouth shut. Successfully reintegrated into the community without greater consequences. Gradually stopped hating Xk.

06-21-06: Joined DSM's board (now dead). Appointed Moderator of Rom Hacking there.

07-??-06: Joined #rohmacking. The Asuka incident happened around then. Roger and I, along with the rest of the board, promptly solve the problem.

08-06: Firetards invaded the board. Instigated Xk to take them down. Xk accepted, and I helped some of the raids, alongside Roger. Missed the 9/9 raid, though

09-14-06: Made the Daniversary thread.

Present day: ASSKAKES

--TRANSMISSION END--

In summary, I joined, asked noob LM questions, made evil layouts, hated Xk, was indirectly responsible for Kei's spasm, went inactive, learned CSS, came back, shut up, stopped hating Xk, and became what I am today.

I was linked here by a friend named Mustapha for Pokemon hacks (in my whole 1 month of being interested in Pokemon hacking - also how I met interdpth =P), and I just kinda stuck around. Wasn't really heavily involved until this incarnation, though (and I suppose I'm still kinda not, lol).
