Is there any particular way that you type your posts?
Probably the most defining characteristic of my posts is that I never use smileys, ever. I used to use them rarely (except at TUNMB, where people would toss random ones everywhere as a fad). The only "emoticon" I use is XD, but I always write it as xd. I consider it an abbreviation that doesn't stand for anything, rather than an emoticon. Also, despite living in the USA, I use British spellings like colour and centre, as well as metric units and degrees Celsius. I started doing this in late 2006 as a political protest against the USA, plus I'm obsessed with the UK as much as most Acmlmers are obsessed with Japan. Peh, this isn't a political thread. I used to really overuse ellipses, but I don't use them quite as much anymore... I use "peh" instead of the more common "meh". I used to use "bah" with the same meaning, but I feel that was too closely associated with my Banedon era. |

I often type in a similar way to how I speak, since I read my posts semi-audibly to myself to make sure they flow right and don't end up too confusing.
As far as spellings go, I usually go with the American spellings, with the sole exception of grey. I can probably think of more tomorrow when I have some actual sleep, but there's not really anything special about how I post. |

I'm not sure that "grey" is entirely a non-American spelling. I've seen that spelling used in books and such that otherwise use American spellings. |

yeah, I've noticed that too. I just assumed it was more of a British thing because of some of the people I talk to online... the Brits all use grey, and pretty much no one else on my list does. |

My posts tend to either be short and to the point, or sometimes, they get overly long and sprawl out over a huge space. I tend to type first, and separate text later, if I make a long post, I need to, otherwise it's just one huge block of text, and no one wants to read that. Smilies I'll use if I feel like it, and if the conversation fits it, I'd almost never use a smily in the debate forum, for example, they just don't fit there. As for spellings, I use American spellings, and "gray" and "grey" are interchangable to me, so I could use either. Also, as you see, I kinda abuse the comma a bit. ____________________ There are things I want to put here. Like a cool picture, my 8-bit theatre character test result, my MS and RO characters... My posting style tends to be quite intellectual and error free. Every now and then I might toss a smiley in if I am thinking the smiley in real life. I often use "" whenever I mention something shifty, like "procuring".
My posts are rarely ever long but if they are, I tend to go offtopic. Not out of lack of grammar mind you, but a lack of patience and fun. This might be the longest you ever see my posts get so be prepared. Of course I have been none to type longer ones than this. So there you go, this is my posting style. ____________________ What FF7: Advent Children Character Are You? |

I tend to break my post up with a lot of paragraphs/linebreaks, too. I'm always very particular about my punctuation and spelling; I use semi-colons a lot
I use smilies a lot, too, I suppose But I prefer to say 'heh' I like to omit '.' at the end of the last sentence in a paragraph/line, and between the end of a sentence and a smiley. Spelling, uh, 100% British Nothing annoys me more than when people don't leave a space after a punctuation mark |

I'm a bit like Thex in my own way perhaps. My posts come out as if they'd be something I'm actually saying.
Heck, I even throw out "like, yadda yadda" sometimes, I don't always see others doing this. With the "like". And yeah, I'm with those who tend to use , , , , and sometimes . Though I randomly like to throw out =P, =O and =D also. And well my posts tend to be shorter thesedays, then compared to my posting years ago or so. Obviously I spread stuff out a lot too sometimes. |

I'm an inclusivist who thinks that everyone should not only accept both American and British spellings but all of each English-speaking country's slang as well, and feel free to use whichever one strikes their fancy. I myself probably use the American spellings, but not always. Sometimes I go out of my way to write dates in the American way (4/16/2007) because this was the standard when the US was part of the British Empire!
One UK-centric thing I've picked up is to use single quotes rather that double quotes when typing. The single quote is an unshifted key -- easier to type, right? But then when I moved to Japan and had to deal with the terrible-spawn-of-Satan-and-I'm-not-kidding-you JIS keyboards, for which almost all of the non-alphabet keys are out of position, each of the quotes was equally hard to type -- " is on Shift-2 and ' is on Shift-7. Considered going over to double quotes but ended up sticking with the single ones. Also, I place the commas and period outside the quotes (you might think 'that looks funny', but you shouldn't), where they logically belong, despite stickler English teachers insisting that that's wrong. I prefer metric but do not insist on it for others. And while I have nothing against smilies, forum software that forces the very-frequently-used 8 followed by a parenthesis into a stupid smiley with sunglasses is something that needs to be eradicated from the earth. |

I don't know how to describe my posting style, mostly because it really changes every few posts.

I never use any smilies, and try to have the best spelling as possible.
I have a spell check implemented on every text field in my computer, so you rarely see any mistakes. (Except capitalizing errors. I'm pretty bad with that...) ____________________ |
