07 00: Setting alarm for 11 30. I go to bed knowing I was an idiot for staying up so late.
11 00: Scott wakes me up. "Did you have school today?" Yes, but sleeping, go away.
11 30: (Assuming) Scott shuts off my alarm clock.
16 30: I wake up, having missed one of the last tests this semester and very pissed off

Thanks, asshole.

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed today. Expect lots of friviolus bans I'll remove tomorrow.

I've had problems like that due to insomnia. One night I didn't get to sleep until almost 06:00, and the next day my mom was going to arrive in the morning to pick me up to go somewhere. I woke up just before she arrived and was a zombie all day.

That's why you set more than one alarm for important things.

I do that a lot, just in case.

Especially if you make posts like that.

I set 4 alarms (2 on one clock, one on my DS, one on a FUCKING LOUD clock) just to get me the hell up in the morning. It doesn't help, though, because I wake up, but stay in bed, and fall asleep 20 minutes later. I should set one for like 45 minutes after the first or something.

Someone just turns it off as soon as it starts firing and it takes a minute or two for me to wake up

I always use my TV as an alarm clock -- the blast of frequencies when TV's turn on wakes me up. I also set my regular alarm clock to go off ten minutes after my TV, in case of a power outage. Battery backup helps.

I use 2 alarms to wake me up. One is my alarm clock and the other is my DS. The only times they fail to wake me up is when I turn them off and go straight to bed again for another few hours.

Can't use alarms. I listen to music that I burned to my Xbox every night on repeat. Alarms haven't worked for me in forever. My mind somehow wakes me up before someone else does, though. Not that I get out of bed at the time I wake up, anyway. If I can somehow get back to sleep I will.

Now, if it is past, say, 12:00 and nobody has woke me up by then, I'll be pissed when they do wake me up. I'd like to have some form of a day.

I don't listen to music that often, so my alarm is set to the radio, works better than an annoying bleeping sound. As for not being woken up past 12:00, I'm the same way, except I'd like to wake up sometime before 11:00, I like my days to have atleast 12 hours in them, and I sleep at 11 if I need to go to school the next day, so yeah.

I usually end up getting up at 10:30-11 no matter what, alarm or no alarm.

On the rare occasion I have to set up my alarm, it does the job. Sadly.

Mom> Did you go to school yesterday?
Xkeeper> (already missing her absence) No.
Mom> Why not?
Xkeeper> Somebody shut off my alarm.
Mom> Nobody fucking shuts off your alarm when it goes off

I don't mind knowing how my alarm -- that I explicitly remember setting to on (and it uses an actual flipped switch, not a "push this button for on/off" that turns itself off)... managed to not go off.

It doesn't just magically get shut off by the evil Sleep Fairy... and my bed was surrounded with junk, so I'm really, really doubtful I could "sleep-disable" it.

Consider especially that I was woken up 30 minutes ago and I was really not in a deep sleep yet...

I'll sleep through chainsaws, swear to god.

Seriously, I know how loud my doorbell is and I've slept through multiple rings of it. When I sleep, it's pretty damned deep. Oddly enough, though, when I get woke up I'm usually pretty sharp.

I mean hell I've been woke before and within 20 seconds could crack a Bud Light joke in reference to something said. It's Bud Light, I know, but seriously...

Earthquakes. I've always slept through them. Except for one... Although I woke up about 10 seconds before it began. It's like I have some premonitory sense.

Once I get up, I'm sharp. But if I'm just woken for a minute or so before I "officially" get up, I can be pretty incoherent.

I don't need alarm clocks, I wake up within 10 mins of 6AM ~99%~ of the time (on weekdays) and then on weekends I wake up within 30min of 12PM (usually).

I have a biological clock that goes off 5-10 minutes before I want to wake up, almost regardless of what time I want to wake up at, or how little sleep that means. My alarm clock is basically a redundant alarm that almost never goes off because I turn it off when I wake up.
I don't have the slightest idea how I developed it. My only reasonable guess is that because I didn't like the noise my alarm clocks made, I decided to turn them off before they had a chance to go off, and I never had a reason to unlearn the habit.

As a side affect though, I really don't have a good grasp of how light or heavy of a sleeper I am.

Or does it go off, and you wake up just enough to shut it up and immediately go back to sleep without remembering the incident, thus waking up later wondering why it didn't go off? This happens to me often. I ask someone why they didn't wake me up and they tell me they did 3 times.

Yeah, sometimes I do that to my alarm, I get up, turn it off, and go back to sleep and I wake up late and don't remember turning it off at all. And speaking of waking up without the alarm, if I'm not dead tired, I'll usually wake up 5-10 minutes before my alarm goes off, no matter what time my alarm is set to. If my alarm is off, I won't wake up early, but if it's on, I'll wake up a few minutes before it goes off.
