I always wanted to make another Battle City hack after seeing NetSplit's video on you tube (which I always looked at for inspiration) and elbobelo said once that using GBC octorocks in Battle City be kinda cool. So I chefed this up yesterday...
It's in the early stages, I plan to add the G&G fonts or the fonts for Gargoyle's Quest and of course new level graphics with edited levels. Which font you fellas think'll be better, G&G or Gargoyle's Quest? Hell: I like'em, they're cool. EDIT: I added the G&G font, it looks better than the Gargoyle's Quest font. I'm almost done with all the graphics and then I'll start editing levels... ____________________ My Linktree |

Posted by messiaen I hate to be nitpicky, but it's missing a few channels that were in the original. It sounds to be missing the bass and the noise (drums). First though I should ask, have you gotten to the point with that where you can add extra channels in different parts of levels? Like when you swim through Jolly Roger Bay and run through Hazy Maze Cave eventually other parts of the song join in. If you combined it with that it would work great. @Dr. Hell Those look great. @Googie I don't know which font you should use since I haven't played either, but so far that looks good. ____________________ |

There's an anomaly in the Dracula intro screen...
The word "akumajou" is written in shitty Hepburn-ish romanization... |

I was thinking about using the actual Japanese characters, but then I decided to go with something more people would be able to read, after all, the rest of the game is in english. The other problem was making the Japanese characters legible. I mean I'm sure I could have worked my ass off on it, but in the end I was happier going with what I used. |

Posted by TytyPosted by messiaen The bass is there, but it's a bit buried in the mix even though I set it's track channel to the max volume possible. I think it's hard to hear it because of the swim sound effects, which happen in a similar frequency range and tend to cover it. I'll see if can I get a similar effect to the noise channel by using some of the drum samples. As for the extra channels in different parts of the level, it's actually just a loop effect. After the music gets played one time from beggining to end, it just starts a infinite loop from a specifiction section to the end. In Hazy Maze, the effect is more noticeable because the "introduction" is very long. Yeah, I could use this for some effect, thanks for the idea . |

Whee, fun with the campaign. Trying to work out how all the bits that control what missions appear work. |

This one is hot . Only the 'noise' channel is missing.

I might as well post this.
This is a mock-up of an Intro Stage concept I've been messing around with. No idea if it will actually make it into the game or not though. **Edit** Spoiler- Last Boss concept http://drmario.arc-nova.org/Images/lastbossmock4.PNG |

Just something I've been doing for fun. Took me 2 days to do this. I implemented ice blocks in the hills level, also, if you jump in the water, you can die, since it is ice cold. If you are Fire Mario and you jump in the water, you can get out of the water alive.

I like how the water doesn't kill you right away, so you have some time to escape. I actually didn't see that coming at all, it's pretty cool. |

I like the adaptation of the Snow Tune from Mario 64...
Maybe you could have a kind of timer or gauge that tells you when you'll die in the cold water... |

Thanks guys. Glad you like it. As I said, it's just something I'm doing for fun. Winter is coming, it's the holiday season, and I wanted to do something holiday-like. I had SM64's snow levels in mind, which inspired me to do this. I personally like when you jump in the water, you turn ice blue, and you remain ice blue when you come out.

Posted by Logical Operand What'll also be wicked is that if you have a suit on, you'll walk slower, shoot slower and swing the racoon & Tanooki tail slower. After a few seconds you flash back to normal. And yeah being small & super Mario, you walk slower too. It's getting late must hit bed... ^___^' EDIT: One level down, 34 more to go... ____________________ My Linktree |
