I must say that looks really impressive, but I really don't like the z-fighting (especially near the roof), but I guess that unavoidable given how you're making the levels. :/

Nice videos guys. It's about time the activity on this forum is starting to go back up.

Lately, I've been playing Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine on my Sonic Mega Collection for PS2, and it is such a great game. It's fun, addictive, and simple. So, I've had Sonic on the brains lately.

Googie, I made this little hack just now, after seeing your video, just for the hell of it. It's called Sonic Mario. Mario is blue and can flip all the time, and if he gets hit, he loses all of his coins. I tried to produce the coins flying everywhere, but it would proabably take a lot more code.

When boredom strikes!!!!

RT-55J: You're right, objects positions still have to be improved a lot, this is one of the main difficulties of the 3D editing because its hard to know if the scaling is correct. I will try hard to avoid extreme jumping, there's a lot of ways to work around this.

Sweet! That would make for an interesting hack. It would change gameplay some, too. =)

And I would imagine the sprite per scanline limit of the NES would cause some problems too. >>

Could do like the Game Gear games I guess, you lose 1 ring for every 10 you have and if you have less than 10 you can only collect 1 from losing them.

That looks really neat.
That little road at the beginning of the video which is on the border, is the idea taken from Paper Mario? Now you just need a Paper Mario background and some nice house textures. ^.^
Is that even possible?

The idea is actually from Super Mario RPG, I haven't played Paper Mario (but I might take a look to rip some textures and get some ideas). This will be an experimental team hack, with about 4 or 5 complete levels and some areas to wander around with talking NPCs.

I got the game to use extended memory for levels/custom ASM, so there's a lot of possibilities.

Sounds awesome. :o

In case you want to use some Paper Mario backgrounds, here are plenty of them.

Edit: Forgot to show this off:

I recently started hacking SMK, currently just building some tracks for fun and then see if I can somehow do something about the sprites, etc. (Hopefully it is OK if I show off such a huge picture)

Edit2: Before someone asks, I'm aiming for those curves. =P
Edit3: Excuse me for this insanely huge post but I have something new I'm very proud of:

Sorry for the bad JPG quality.

messiaen, may I make a suggestion for your SM64 hack? Make a new font for the dialogue text. That is something that I couldn't stand about SM64. The original font is too sloppy. Make a font that is like this:

"Hey Mario! Are you here to save the Princess?"

It would look so much better, and a lot more legible.

A preview of Scorch Man's level from my MM2 hack. All-new original graphics, from the ground up. What do you think?
