Heh. Sweet. I think the time limit should be like 10 seconds or something. Cool powerup, though. But, does it replace the fire flower, or is actually an extra powerup?

I might take away the fireballs, and/or lower his jump height. That will force the player to have to use the Power Jump. If Shadow Mario is going to be able to pass through enemies without getting hurt, I want him to have a drawback. That, or I could just give him a timer, like 10-20 seconds. That would make the power-up balanced.

Everything works at least enough to start designing levels.
Here's what's new:
GFX obviously
Walking off the side of the screen takes you to a new room
Walking through a door takes you to a new section of the castle
Killing the boss doesn't end the level anymore
I wanted to comment earlier, but I had to show off my own stuff too. I liked the video, including the music you used in it. I'm assuming you did some ASM hacking to get these new features in?

Yes, those are carefully crafted, well documented asm hacks. Just wanted to roughly show how one gets through the game. Although, considering how large the castle could get, it would probably be a very good idea to further rip off sotn and use something akin to those "keyhole" shortcuts to ease backtracking issues.

Also, definitely put a time limit on shadow mario.

I've just finished every level in my hack. So far, almost everything is changed; levels, text, graphics, boss weaknesses, and even some of the the Sprite AI. All that's left for me to do now is the music. Prepare for the long list of screenshots.

Those screen are sweet, I really like'em. I always thought that Wily stages 1, 2 and 4 shared the same tile set. The title screen is pretty cool too, can't wait to play it when it's done...

Thank you for your comment. Wily Stages 1, 2, and 4 do share the same tileset, I just used different tiles for each stage.

Yeah...the title screen was pretty hard. Especially because of the way those grahpics were arranged. I actually had to rearrange it, and then put it back the way it was before to make it easier. I was just barely able to fit the "RETURN" in there. Glad you liked it.

Well, I've been working on it for 1 month before I showed you guys my first screenshots. So I've worked on it for about 3 months now. I think the reason I've gotten this far so quickly, is because it's all I've been doing these past few months lol. It's still not finished though, still gotta do the music. But I was thinking about taking a break before I move on to music hacking, so it might take me atleast another month before I finish. I just hope I get this project finished before summer ends.
