Whoa, Green-Kirby. That looks excellent.

Thanks. But to be honest. That is only a beta area for morph-ball and will properly not be in the final.

It's a bit of a big GIF at 3.7mb, so it's linked. Not a complete intro yet, but getting there..

How about some levels that go right to left instead of the usual? That's the only thing that bothers me about the sonic series. You never see any levels that end on the left side of the screen.

But that is a very nice intro....and are those new tilework I see? (new meaning different from normal series)

The clouds are from Leaf Forest, the rest of the BG and the foreground are from Sonic Advance 3's Sunset Hill.

You made the GBA graphics look good in the Genesis ROM. I like the way it looks so far.

I was trying to figure that out myself. My only guess is that the person is programming the game (due to the lack of sprite animation frames, physics, etc)...thus as you suggest, not a hack.
I think in this case the fact that it's tangentially related (as in, it's a fan-based gaming thing, not a drawing or something) gives it the right to be showcased here.

I didn't feel like quoting all posts on this subject, so I picked yours congratulation you are winnar.

I would like to point out that this is a "General Project" screenshot thread, not "hack screenshot thread"

hapi-san I hope it has the sunset hill music

Here be a video of what that intro finished off as. :o (I think the sound slips slightly out of sync around about the break, post and jump.)

I love it. Portrays Knucles as the whiny (sp?) little b*tch that he is. It looks like he's saying to Sonic "Get off of my Chaos Emerald."

a couple things bug me about that.

1) perhaps he should start off running, it looks weird starting from a complete stop like that

2) that sprite is just temporary right =(

I think the sprite is only for that sequence, judging from the "Past" sign it passes and the fact that the rest of the game is Sonic 1-styled.

(Sonic Advance Sonic goes to the past, becomes classic Sonic.)

EDIT: D'oh, forgot to make an actual comment. Looking nice. I rather like the premise of it.

If you look carefully, the starting frame is actually in the run pose. It just looks like he's frozen because of the palette fade in.

As has already been said, it's for the intro only. Sonic Advance style -> Past post + big ring into the past -> Classic MD Sonic style.

its not the pose itself, but the motion that makes it look odd. Perhaps starting him offscreen could help that? Its nothing really big or anything.

and now that you mention it about the sprite thing, thats pretty clever.

There are now video abaut my super mario pro:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ-OXZEO9RA

You can tell this is a Gamemaker game. I can clearly recognize the game resources window at the end of the video. Looks like you have a half decent platform engine there Legoman. I too am programming a Mario game on Gamamaker.

Its defenetly not video demo ready, but here's a screenshot.

I wish I had skills in using game Maker but when ever I try to make a game it never goes anywhere. I like the screen shot of your Super Mario game. The only thing I'm wondering is why are Mario and Luigi on the same screen?

Yeah, when I first started using Gamemaker a year ago, I was very turned off when I realized making a "regular simple platform engine" was NOT a walk in the park.

After, learning the gamemaker language and learning to code stuff, I can actually make something, not only functional, but somewhat fun.

The reason you see both Mario and Luigi in the same screen, is because my whole game is based on cooperative gameplay from both brothers. Kinda like in SuperStar Saga, only less power-leveling, and more power-platforming.

You control both bros at the same time. Arrow keys for Mario, WASD for Luigi. The game can just as easily be played by 2 people, for some super coordinated platforming action.

Don't you think that's a bad idea? On most keyboards you can only hit so many keys at once. How about some gamepad compatibility?

Good point. I was definitely aware of the 3 button limitation on some keyboards when I started this project. I can't assume everyone will have a gamepad connected, so I have to include all the moves onto the keyboard.

But you can bet your ass, I will add gamepad support before this is finished. and to tell you the truth, its not like you are truly controlling both guys at the exact same time. Sure, both bros. can walk and jump simultaneously, but most people will only be focused on using one guy at a time.

Ever play The Lost Vikings? Think in those terms. In that game you "controlled" 3 Vikings at a time too. Basically you would switch focus on each character to take advantage of his particular move set.

That's how my game will be. Puzzly, and open, not so much twitch action and pixel perfect jumps. Mario and Luigi will have different powers to help get them both through each level.

My newest sub-map for my SMW hack. An ice world obviously. I turned off the future layer one tiles and mario paths so you can see the main parts of the world and not give away level locations at the same time. I know that some more general detail is needed--I'll work on that when I get back from Florida this weekend.

Comments?

Also, unrelated, does anyone know where I can contact FPI, the creator of The Second Reality Project? I want to ask if I can use some of his ExGFX.
