Yeah, that looks much better than before. I probably wouldn't have noticed that mistake you made with the black outline if BooUrns didn't point that out.

Here are some new and updated screenshots of my game of SMW2 that I had on the old board. They go from 2-8 to 3-4,but I still have to do 3-3,and then I want to release a demo,if it's ok. I haven't made a demo in a long time I'm not sure if I should do another one or I might just make a video to show what I've done if you think I should rather than a demo. I dont know because sometimes people don't play demos so I might see.
Also, I just fixed some of the backgrounds in the levels,and tried to expand some of the rooms like in the last screenshot so I would be able to make a new pre-boss room like Fabio said. Oh,I also need help coming up w/some level names so tell me if you have any ideas. Let me know if you have any feedback or comments. .

The levels look good although the background in screenshot 3 looks odd and screenshot 4 has no background (or was it just a bad place for the picture?).

The background palette looks weird in the first screenshot because it goes from brown to red near the bottom.

As Higsby mentioned, the 3rd background looks odd and there isn't any background on the 4th one.

The 5th screenshot looks very familiar. What I mean is that the dark room has the same foreground and background like the original one. Try experimenting with different tilesets. Golden Yoshi taught me that when I sent him a demo of my hack.

As for level names, I can't really think of any new ones. I still have 5 levels that I haven't named yet in my own hack.

Change the BG palette in screenshot 3 to a working one, because that one looks a tad strange. Also, it looks like the swinging monkies in that screen are floating in mid-air. I would suggest moving them to a block to make it look like they are hanging.

Come on, you can fix those glitches, just do it and who knows, maybe your SMW2 hack will be really good

Higsby, I will TOTALLY play that hack when it comes out. It looks incredibly simple but fun, which is what more hacks need to be these days!

There, I updated the third and fifth screenshots. I also added so vine so monkeys dont look like they are flying or whatever. Are those backgrounds better? i tried different ones and that's a good one I came up with.
I think I know what's wrong w/the other backgrounds in the first and fourth screenshots. In the first one,you have to go to go higher so when you go up or something, the background scrolls up and you get that red.
For example,like in the Keep Moving one,you have to go higher to get farther in the level,if you know what I mean. These next two screenshots show the same levels as the ones shown above(2-8 and 3-2).




So is that ok or does it still not look good?

Top one is looking better then before, but it lacks the shading it should have. I think there are really only two compatible *window* background palettes, and those are the red one from 6-4, and the blue one in most other levels. The second one .. I seriously don't think I've ever seen that in the original, or I just can't tell what it is No comment there, but something about the trees looks a bit iffy to me.

Yeah, they look like they float. I believe you should put a dark green background if you can.

Movies are fine if they are showing off your hack. The idea of the Screenshot Thread is to show off your creations. You might be able to argue against a person previewing their original music alone, since it is merely audio, but movies...?

I was trying to figure that out myself. My only guess is that the person is programming the game (due to the lack of sprite animation frames, physics, etc)...thus as you suggest, not a hack.

I think in this case the fact that it's tangentially related (as in, it's a fan-based gaming thing, not a drawing or something) gives it the right to be showcased here.

Furthermore, there is actually a precedent in one of the older topics, in which Kawa was showcasing his Pokemon fan game/remake(?).

And so this actually contributes (kinda?)... This is the first and last most people will hear of this project for quite some time. It's gonna be an editor for the original Ecco the Dolphin for the Genesis, once I can be bothered enough to port it to some other language (Java is... tolerable, but there's bound to be more useful), map out all the object lengths (some are 3 bytes, some 4, some 5, some 6), and hopefully figure out how to both decompress the graphics/mappings and render them properly. It'll be quite a while.

EDIT: Oh, and throwing in the actual "editing" part. Easy for the level layout, harder for objects.
