JaSp that MP3 is amazing, I love what you did. Legato nice lookin editor, I love the progress there too. Are you planning on adding palette support? Other than that I can't wait to try it out when it's done. Long live the NES.

Apparently reVamp has a fun little feature where it ruins Castlevania 3 roms when you try to use it... I still really want to make a CV3 hack though

**EDIT**
They don't look horrible in game either.

Are you using the old version? Cause on October 17th, the editor got updated. I haven't messed with it though, when you get the chance, snag it here.

The error in question is a sprite display corruption. While playing, 'ghost' copies of sprites will stay in place on screen and freeze. They may shift while going through a door, and more or less pollute the screen until you clear the level (where the ugliness can begin once again when the next starts).

It doesn't make the rom unplayable by any stretch, but it is very aesthetically annoying. I wasn't aware rouki had fixed it.

My advice? Religious use of back up roms.

Nice, the palettes really work with the title screen. I can already see a full blown hack coming outta this. ^^' I forgot to ask ya's, are you using the American version of the ROM or the translated ROM with the better soundtrack?

American Version. I was talking with setz about it on IRC and apparently if I figure out how to take full advantage of it, I can make it look really pretty.

Nice with the custom song JaSp. I hadn't seen too many NES hacks with custom songs. Interesting concept with the overworld there too.

Compared to the SNES, NES hacks still have modified music rather often... then, I guess, it's a rare thing in hacks in general. I guess that's because it's clearly much harder to make above "really bad" music than graphics, dialogue etc...

Well, NES hackers in tendency tend to be more advanced hackers while... the most noobish ones do SMW.

@Ailure:That's absurd.

@Dr.Hell: I look forward to seeing what might come of this. With more info on CV3's structure it could make a great basis for a revision of CV or even CV2.

Doc, you do realise that if you suck me into making a Castlevania hack, it's going to take a long ass time to do it and it will have to be infinitely great. Like far more extensive than Chorus of Mysteries.

As for why there is less custom SNES music in hacks, I have no idea really. Maybe people are just afraid to try it out. I can't even think of any real examples of it. It would be interesting to see how much more challenging it could be than NES music.

You do realize that I'm totally aware of that right? I hope you also realize that I picked the US version of the game just in case I actually did suck you in, so the music wouldn't be more difficult than it had to be (at least I think).

**Edit**

There's still some cleaning up to do... but he's getting there.

I'm also sprucing up the HUD.

Or maybe people hacking NES is more comfortable with getting around the limitations of NES than most typical SNES game hacks.

...now I think on it, SNES hacks are relatively rather few if you ignore SMW.

Damn, Dr.H. That looks really, really good. The giant gear looks rather bland though

In the gears I know, the "high-diameter"/"prominent" segments are roughly the same length as the "low-diameter"/"sunk in" ones too... then, it might be not really a gear but some kind of water-driven wheel; in that case, it could use a colour change. Other than that, very nice.

I think the reason the gear looks bad is because that's the original game's gear. The early Castlevania games weren't ones for sometimes even standable graphics, unfortunately
