The Green on the Mana and the book cycles, the Book causes Mana Regeneration, and you can somehow select two items and toggle between them.

There is something up with that cane that I don't know about, but I don't remember what it originally did

Screen 1. The first part is only me testing out the new wall I made.

So you've been specializing in item ASM lately, or is this just the tip of the iceburg? And is Dark Prophecy still the hack you're working on? Regardless, I'm loving it.

The item stuff is kind of a placeholder for later item work. Being able to switch items without bringing up the menu is something I've always wanted to do though. The thing I spent most of the time on in that video was the flashing magic bar. And it doesn't just flash, it moves in waves in an upward direction. That required me to switch my HDMA table for it every frame. So it's a showcase of improving the gradient MP par (that was static) to one that has a bit of oomph to it. It doesn't look as good in the video, I'll send you the .asm file for all this if you want. It's really nice to look at

I dissent. There are enough SMW hacks with Mario in them as is, and a sufficient number of them are highly modded graphically too. Nothing wrong with trying something new.

(I've been considering that for an SST demo hack myself, but so far have been too lazy to get started on it)
