Missing the "stages", Charmander is touching the border....each Pokemon has positioning data in the games, so, try to do that. |

Posted by Yoshi Master Oh my fidshasidlgfjsakjgfhskjgsjlkhdgalsdsasadf I thought you actually found the SMW '89 beta for a moment there. It's really convincing though. Looks real, I mean. You could've kept this a secret for a while and used this for April Fools, telling you found the beta. But yeah, looks good! ____________________ |

I like that beta title screen. Looks pretty nice
Ok, I have three screenshots of YIKR to show of the Extra levels. These are the last levels that need to be completed before I can release this, and so far it is going well. Make sure to check the ROM Hacking Releases forum within the next 2-3 weeks for the final version of it. 1-Extra. You use a star for the whole level. 2-Extra. It involves a submerged cave part with the famous Lunge Fish. 3-Extra, the one I am currently working on. It involves a snowy cave filled with stalactites. I figured the BG color added a nice touch Comments and feedback are welcome. ____________________ Want custom overworld music in your SMW hack? Download this. Don't forget to RTFM. |

I dunno... maybe I should work on a hack of one of the SMB games... again, based off of icegoom's SMW sprites |

Posted by Dr. Mario I'm really not a fan of unicolored sprites like that... But if you want to use them in a hack, go for a Game Boy one (like SML2), so at least the lack of colors won't be that painful. :p |

Posted by StifuPosted by Dr. Mario Posted by Dr. Mario If it counts, I am making a greyscale (gameboy style?) version of SMB3. Though it actually takes more hacking than just colors believe it or not. I dunno why. Just for the novelty of it. |

Posted by Sgraff87 I'm not there to troll, but I can't see the point of such hacks. Someone was working on a black & white Super Metroid hack at some point, too... The thing is many emulators (and monitors, but that's more annoying) lets you get into greyscale mode... So unless you're doing it solely for yourself (to learn stuff or kill time, whatever) and not for players, I'd say this is a waste of time. You are devoting X hours of your life making a game black & white, while anyone can already play any game they want in black & white by simply checking a box in the emu options. |

Stifu, you are missing the point. For SGraff, it will not just be "turning it grayscale", but using grayscale to its full effect -- allowing him to implement more detail in the graphics and things.
I saw a hack of Shinobi that used this same principle... the "before" and "after" shots clearly demonstrated a massive graphical improvement. Sometimes limiting yourself can prove to create better things. I would wait for what he has to show before pushing this off as "nothing" and "useless". ____________________ I dealt with it. |

Posted by Xkeeper I see. I actually started typing it may have a use if it has something else to boost, but ended up removing that part from my post, as I keep on reformulating my sentences. But anyway... That may work better for more serious games (Metroid, Shinobi), I guess... Because Mario has never been about overloaded details, but rather simple and cute graphics. But how good that hack may turn out obviously depends on how the idea is actually implemented, it may end up being worth looking at if done right... |
