I think it would be cool if each Robot Master had their stage theme for their fight and a generic 'waiting room' song on the outside of their rooms.

You mean something simlilar to the Megaman Zero Series, right? I think one of those hacks actually had it which is Rock n' Maxx. It's a very cool theme for before boss matches.

Yeah, something like that, but each boss would have there own theme.

Something I edit a short a while ago because I need to get motivated on my long term Megaman 1 project again after Showdown 4. Recently change the frame patterns and graphics for the Rolling Tornado weapon for both Megaman and Cutman.

Celice: I love them graphics man, they are tight tight TIGHT! We need inspiration in the scene right now, all of it. (^_~)

Before I leave, here's a SMB3 hack...

Read the description on You Tube for more info, enjoy...

That video rocked! Here's the description for the video for those who were interested in reading it (I watched the video here and then jumped over to YouTube to fetch the description and I watched it again ).

According to Ghettoyouth's site, he's not ROM Hacking anymore. So instead'a letting this hack stay dead, I might as well finish it.

Mario's Destiny'll be a 4 World hack, GY did a sweet job with those graphics. Don't worry about the animated road, that'll be fixed in the final version.

The game sounds a bit faster cause it's based off the (E) version of the ROM. Anyways, enjoy the video...
Now I see what you meant when you said before that Ghettoyouth used DahrkDaiz's SMB3 TSA Editor on some of the graphics, one of the cases being that instead of the bricks being animated, the after-coin blocks are animated. I also love the new 1-5 - music/sounds, design, and all. The whole hack looks and sounds awesome so far! Keep up the excellent work, Googie buddy!

I finished up that level that I started a couple of days ago in Luigi's Chronicles 2. I was questioning whether or not I wanted to make a new preview video, but with that stuff going on over at YouTube lately I'm not really motivated to actually log in or do anything really, so maybe I'll post some screenshots instead.

EDIT: Here we go! The first screenshot is of an underground scrolling area. You arrive there from and will resurface at the Quicksand level. It will be in World 2.

The other screenshots are of the level that I just finished today. The first part of the level is a Giant-based area, and the connecting underground area is sort of like a maze that obviously isn't very hard to figure out, but hopefully it's fun. That level will be in World 4.

googie: the hack looks excellent however I do not like the level design as they seem rather difficult to play.

Quick Curly: the underground area with the white palette is unpleasant on my eyes. you should probably tone it down a little. other than that I dont see any faults.

to me it looks easy, also I noticed that music is somehow faster, or then I got used to European/pal version of this game(and it runs slower?) :7

I was actually thinking the same thing while I was first posting the screenshots. I didn't alter the palette yet, so realize that that's the original palette. I'm thinking of maybe changing the level header to make the underground area load the same red palette as the scrolling underground area instead. However, also realize that it looks brighter in the screenshots than it actually did in the emulator.

As for the level design of Mario's Destiny seeming rather difficult to play, I disagree. I didn't see any levels that were overly difficult. Also, what's wrong with difficult level design? Why would levels have to be easy for you to want to play them? You need to make levels fun, but they also need to be challenging. There are the cases when easy levels are not fun. Anyway, I felt that Ghettoyouth and Googie did an excellent job on Mario's Destiny so far. The only thing that I could actually see that probably needs fixing is the Goomba's Shoe being placed near the end of the level and really only being used once (which questions why it's even there at all), and also causing a graphical glitch when conflicting with the Boomerang Brother at the very end.

EDIT: Okay, I quickly made up some images of the underground area with the other default palettes. Which palette do you think works best with the level? As for those who might ask, "Why not just make a custom palette/change the default palettes?", Googie and I have not really discussed what different palettes, other graphics, etc. we would want to do. I personally prefer to finish editing the levels first anyway.

So here are some new images. Remember that I have not changed these palettes from what they already were. If they are somehow different, they were like that when Googie first gave me a copy of the hack.

Palette 0

Palette 1

Palette 2

Palette 3

Palette 4

Palette 5

Palette 6

Also just showing Palette 7 again...

I actually do like Palette 3 myself. Maybe a change was needed. Of course, in the final stages of editing, Googie and I might change the palettes anyway. We'll just have to wait and see.

I love the action that's going on right here. It's sweet!

Off topic for Googie: How's are those two MM hacks coming along?

I love what you're doing Celice, BomberChocobo!

Quick Curly: You and Googie doing Luigi's Chronicles 2, it's a God send.

I like RM Showdown too. ^^;

Wow, I'm glad to hear that from you. That's pretty sweet.

Ahem, based on the fourth series I'm working so far, the Normal version is now complete. Now, I'm working on the more difficult version of the game called Megaman Showdown 4 EX. All I need to do is change enemy settings, and reflex timers for megaman.

It's not easy coding each of the bosses ASM, but Drillman is hard to think of while coding or change their settings.

It should be released about next or 2 weeks with both patches included.

They're pretty much on ice until I can get off my lazy ass, or get some free time to figure out how the level scrolling works to have the level layouts differently from the originals... *sleeps*

QuickCurly: Anything but palette 3. Or palette 7. Zero through two add a unique touch to the level, which is nice. Gives it a sense of strangeness or mystery since the palettes make the level seem so out of place when compared to other underground levels... so maybe use it as a secret level? Palette 4 still looks a little bright, but should work. Palette 5 is actually the palette I'd go for if I didn't pick 0-2. Very subtle and smooth. Colors are very appropriate for an underground level. And Palette 6 is ass ugly.

Anyway, I've got a SMB3 hacking binge coming up this weekend, so hopefully I'll get my first world finished up and some of the 2nd world.

Also, I've got one question: Why the hell can't I edit palette 5 in SMB3W for the underground levels? I might have to use a hex editor to edit them.

I can proberly help you with scroll layouts in Megaman 4 now because I started it. I use MegaFLE X to do it. If you see the Scroll Position, you change the number, and the one below it is how many screens can it go up to.

They even have Boss Doors as the scroll position only in MM4. Note that taking up screens can change the scroll map position. I should write a tutorial soon.

I hope my Rockman 4-Kai videos motivate to continue on. It now motivates me to do a long-term MM4 hack after Showdown 4.

Also, I've got one question: Why the hell can't I edit palette 5 in SMB3W for the underground levels? I might have to use a hex editor to edit them.
Well I guess Palette 7 is out of the question then since no one seems to like it - even though it was the palette used for the original 6-9, which is the edited area shown in the above images. You make an interesting point about Palettes 0-2 - I didn't really like them myself because like you said they look odd for an underground level, but I like your idea of maybe using them for a secret level! I'm currently editing 6-4 which I'm planning to connect to a bonus area which I was planning to make an underground level - perhaps one of those "odd" palettes should be used!

Palette 4 doesn't seem bright to me, and I do agree that it is one of the better default underground palettes. I actually did already set the edited 6-9 to use Palette 3 though, as I did come to like it better than Palette 7. What's wrong with Palette 3? I kept Palette 5 for the edited 4-3 area (the underground scrolling area) so I felt that Palette 3 would help to mix it up a bit.

Like it was mentioned earlier though, I still need to talk to Googie about maybe changing the palettes and/or other little things. Over the last few days, I finished editing World 4 and I'm halfway through editing World 6. After that, there'll only be World 8 left to edit and then my half of Luigi's Chronicles 2 will be done.

However, that's when I got to thinking. Googie's currently working on Mario's Destiny, and he's also got a couple other SMB3 hacks that need a lot of level editing to be completed. It would be evil for me to throw Luigi's Chronicles 2 back at him for Worlds 3, 5, and 7 to be finished (since our original plan was for each of us to edit four Worlds). I was thinking of maybe asking him if I could edit some more levels after I'm done with my four Worlds to help him lighten his load. Since I didn't contribute to any of the graphics (they were already done up to the point they are at before Googie gave me a copy of the hack) it might be cool for me to edit more of the levels than for just four Worlds. I guess we're due for another chat.

Also, thanks for your interest and input, KP. I really appreciate your opinions for the default underground palettes. Best of luck with your SMB3 hack! Get that first World done already! Hee hee!

As for your question, I've tried to edit other underground palettes in SMB3 Workshop before and it hasn't worked for me either. I'll try to look into it more when I have the time...
