Yeah, Windows folder names tend to be way too long, I guess because they assume nobody will ever have to type them. I actually prefer Unix names: bin, dev, etc, and so on. Short and simple.
Like, why "Program Files"? Programs are obviously files, so why not just "Programs"? |

Yeah, that ticked me off because A) spaces in the path breaks a lot of old programs and B) changing the path also breaks a lot of old programs. Apparently they fixed it in Vista, Documents And Settings is now Users. I haven't heard anything of Program Files though.
It annoys me too that they still use 8.3 filenames for various important (and unimportant) components. |

Yeah, and the names are never clear. Always stuff like hqwprtfx.exe and such, like they named their files the same way Acmlm picked his username.
Also what's with all the "My"s? I don't need you to differentiate "My Documents" from "Somebody Else's Documents", so why not just call it Documents? "My Computer" is even worse because it sounds like someone is referring to their own computer in itself rather than the list of drives on any Windows computer (possibly someone else's). |

Posted by KernalIt's also silly when you can have network drives in it, that are in fact not part of your computer at all. |

Posted by BooUrnsSilly me. I remember when "Documents" was a list of recently opened files. Still is that way on my home computer, actually. I don't think they really can change "Program Files". Even if they tried, so many things would still install there (by default) that it would prove rather fruitless. |

Hmmmm.... Hey guys, to those of you who use Firefox, have any of you happened to have a few problems getting certain smilies to show right? Like, on a few other forums I go to, the picture for one smilie is replaced with another, and the pics for the buttons to make tags appear also seem to be jumbled up with the pics used for the smilies. Any idea how to fix that?
Edit: Scratch that, it was a problem with either my cookies or my Cache. I cleared both, then checked, so.... Don't know which was the problem. But anyways, this is no longer a problem anymore. |
