Not to insult IE users, but I don't feel like fixing this.

I stopped using IE in 2004. I switched to Mozilla, then Firefox, which is what I use now. I only keep IE around for a small number of sites that still don't work in anything else.

My parents have gotten something like that before, and I've had all kinds of crap placed into IE from downloading, uh, files. My parents usually use Netscape though. Yes, Netscape. You know, that browser that was popular back in 1996.

Generally thats just from a lack of security.
I use Firefox in Windows, Swiftfox/Opera in Linux.

To me, IE isn't a bad browser, just there is so much crap that infects it.

SpywareBlaster is a good thing to install on a fresh computer and keep updated to prevent this alongside Ad-Aware and such.

I use IETab in Firefox to load things only IE can load.

I tend to get nasty things from IE, so I don't use it at all, only FireFox.

At least you still have the address bar... mine lost it some time ago, and had the default page to that errorsafe thing (but clicking "home" made it go to google again...) some time after that closed itself before it showed up the window, and now executing it will cause the computer to crash.

I banned IE from using anything, including javascript. So no infection there.

However I still like Firefox, due to the fact I can make it look any way I want, and have any feature I want.

I think I will let the image speak for its self.

The only reason IE is so hated is because it wasn't made to be very secure; hell, the only reason Firefox even is is probably because they learned from IE's mistakes.

And honestly, anyone who knows what they're doing in IE can easily fix their settings (protip: turn off ActiveX) so that this never happens.

I still use IE at other places that don't have something else and I don't mind (and I usually fix their settings for them), though

But besides, Opera is better on the security front, so if you're obsessive about that, just use it

(There are also a lot of other things that stop Microsoft from simply "patching IE to fix things" that nobody considers. Remember that you have to be very careful when dealing with IE, as it is highly integrated into the OS -- botch one thing somewhere, and ...

And just to inform you, regarding security issues:
Opera's report, Firefox's report, and (for amusement) IE's report.)

My problem with IE is that it horribly, evilly, and instantly destroys CSS. IE7 fixes this, but then it has its titlebars all screwed up in some sick imitation of Windows Vista. It's hideous, I tell you.

Security? That's the easy part.

To the topic creator: You need get IE7 installed, ASAP. It is countless orders of magnitude more secure than previous versions.

That is why browsers that are not integrated into the OS are better. To be honest, if opera was as extendable/easy to remove features as firefox is, I would use it.

However, I like my nice little extension list. It is.. more useful to me.

I was not going for lean, I was going for functional for me. :p

Although your Firefox is small... is everything under one button?

Darkdata,
I use alt+left/right for forward backward and F5 for refresh. I never use stop.
Home button there.
Hided my go buttons on url bar and search bar as they are replaced by le Enter.
All my file, edit etc is under that one button at the top left I click.
I hid my status bar.
Using AIOS on the side for history, bookmarks etc.
Del.icio.us for tagging my bookmarks.

Not the leanest setup though. My friend David has me beat with no home page button, no search bar, and no AIOS.

He uses bookmarks he setup so he can g search term for Google etc

Personally I don't care for it this lean, I'm just training myself to be more used to Hotkeys.

Firefox is also more popular because Microsoft didn't update IE at all for like five years and Firefox added several additional features during that time. I can't live without tabbed browsing these days, for instance.

The sad thing is that Opera actually had tabbed browsing long before Firefox even existed ... it's just overlooked for some silly reason :/

You see where this is going.

"Image saver extension"?

Now you need an extension to save images?

(I never got what was so hard about rightclick->save->enter)

Oh lawl, I guess it does sound silly.

You open up a bunch of images in tabs, and instead of going tab to tab Rich Click > Save Image etc

You hit one button and it saves your hundred of tabs full of images to a specified folder.

Opera just has "Next" (replaces Forward when a) there's no forward entries and b) it's available, usable by either space at the bottom of a page or left-right rolling gesture)...

In a dir-list type area (anything Opera interprets as "list of images", doing this will cycle through each one from where you start (click one! or it'll start from the first) and move on every time you use space/l-r-roll after that.

Ctrl-S, save, space, etc, up to the last image Much easier than opening thousands of tabs and hoping yu didn't miss any or clicking one, going back, clicking another one...
