I though there was a sort of posts/page querystring parameter like ppp=x or whatver that would let someone control the number of posts to show in thread.php / forum.php. What was it, or is it not available right now?

It used to be ppp=x, as you said, but apparently it's not working.

There's a field in profiles for it

(Although yeah, there was one for URLs)

Well specifically I was asking about URLs, not the profiles one.

For something I'm writing, it downloads forum.php?time=x via HTTP request and scans for certain threads, but, if you're not logged in or your threadsw/page is too low, it doesn't work right since not all the threads are displayed

It's not really necessary now that we have direct links to posts that only require the post ID (not the thread ID and page number like before). The ppp parameter was originally devised so that when someone links to a particular page in a thread, the same page would show no matter what the other person's PPP setting was. Before, it was a problem because what's page 14 for me might be page 35 for someone with the default setting, so if I linked someone to my page 14, they would see posts 260-279 instead of 650-699. (If my math is right.) Now, the post links are independent of page number and will load the proper page automatically depending on your PPP setting.

No, the &ppp in URLs was never for that (afaik) Unless you count 1.Bullshit...

It was more useful for at-a-glance page settings, or when you needed to get all posts on one page...
