Mike-Tech reckons we should have stupid account activation on the board, I don't:

1)More annoying for real users.

2)The whole point of AcmlmBoard is to be simple, and lightweight and it feels easy to use for a general user.

3)It doesn't stop any spam that is created with a real email or disposable one.

What do you think? Have any other methods instead of shitey account activation, because I would love to hear it.

(I'm hiding this thread here so aforementioned user doesn't find it and shit all over the topic)

I don't think posting in an obscure section is enough to actually hide this thread, but... well, I'm also leaning towards not doing email activation as it tends to be a pain for everyone involved and I'm pretty sure spammers and bot authors have found ways around it long ago. If the spammer problem is that bad, I'd rather gate the signup procedure with some sort of puzzle or maths problem, though I have yet to see evidence that it actually is.

97% of boards use account activation (probably) and still get a fuckton of spam, so you're right.

Hopefully we see more posts here, and the person I'm hiding this thread from doesn't spot it and moan that activation works in one board, so it must work here.
