So, I know it's been forever since I showed off an actual ROM hack, but this one I've been working on for a LONG time. It's a hack of Rockman 2 known as Rockman 2 Everlast. Here's the new title screen and stage select:
Im sure some of you are aware that I showed off this same hack before, well I've made improvements to just about everything in the whole game. If ROM hacks were sold Rockman 2 Everlasts' selling point would definitely be the graphics, all stage graphics are hand-drawn by me, with great attention to detail. Here's some screenies: Bubbleman:Airman:Quickman: Heatman: Woodman: Metalman: Flashman:Clashman: Dr. Wily's stages also have all completed graphics, but I don't want to spoil them, However they can be seen in the demo. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Keep in mind the game is not finished and I'm still working out the kinks, but there are some fully completed stages, they are: Heatman, Woodman, Quickman, and Bubbleman. While not all the game is complete, it is still functioning and can be completed to the end, however I still reccomend using passwords to get to the wily stages because running around empty stages and just looking at graphics can get tiresome. -------------------------------------------------------------------- The music is also unchanged, but I might have someone working on that. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Some enemies have graphical changes as well, you'll find them in the completed stages. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Now for the issues, (yeah i saw it coming ) I want to edit the bosses and weapons, however I have no clue how to use the debugger, in it's entirety, in fceux. You see, I CAN use the debugger to set up breakpoints to find Hex values in the ROM. But I CAN'T figure out how to edit the ASM it'self. The debugger has an "inline Assembler" but I have no idea how to use it, and I can't find a single article on it, If anybody knows how to use it give me a heads up, thanks. P.S: any other little tips and tricks for editing bosses or weapons would be appreciated, thanks. -------------------------------------------------------------------- So here's the download link for the patch: http://www.mediafire.com/download/fldwizm17646csr/Rockman+2+Everlast.ips just patch it to the original Rockman 2 (J) and it should be good -------------------------------------------------------------------- As a final note, I posted about a year ago, a thread for a robot master contest for users to submit their robot master ideas. I've decided that now is the perfect time to use that idea so here's a link to that: http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?id=7907 You can see the rules there so feel free to submit So that's pretty much it the hack is not dead and I really am excited to see everyone's reactions. So enjoy the demo and feel free to leave comments, Thanks |

I'm liking the hack so far! Your graphics have much improved since the last version you showed, and the gameplay is looking pretty good (I especially liked Quick Man's stage so far!). Sprite edits are also nice, especially the sniper joes: I think they might have just a bit too much HP though. Otherwise the level design seems nice so far.
You'll probably want to use a separate hex editor for more intensive hex editing. Unfortunately I am not too familiar with the debugger either, so I can't help much there. You can find some interesting values to edit on Data Crystal, though.. http://datacrystal.romhacking.net/wiki/Mega_Man_II:ROM_map#Heat_Man.27s_routine_for_attack |

Thanks, I really appreciate the input . I've been using data Crystal, but I don't know any other advanced hex editors. If you know any throw them my way and i'll check them out |

Went ahead and played again, here's some better feedback:
- Due to the sprite not fulling up the tile's collision box fully, the jump right after the checkpoint in Air Man's stage is a little annoying. Also, you might want to move that checkpoint down instead of having us drop down every time. - It'd be really nice to have more color variety in Air Man and Bubble Man's stages. In Air Man there's only one palette the entire time and maybe some new platform type would be nice, at least to make the boss room look better. Bubble's Man starts out pretty alright but turns all blue and it gets really dull after a while; maybe some greens or purples or even making the background darker could help add variety to the lower part. - The big metools are interesting in a way but they are really dull because they don't do anything. Also, the first set don't seem to fade out properly. - Hot Dogs you don't have to dodge aren't too interesting; I suggest either making their fights more like the original or lowering their health since there's no point to them taking a lot of hits. |

Ok, i'll fix up those things as soon as I can. As for the color variety I can make an update patch with the changes if you like, or I can post screenshots, or both. |

How did I miss this?
This looks pretty sweet, man. When I come back from the park I'm gonna play this! It looks like you're really taking your time with this. The dragon looks badass Off Topic: Whatever happened to that Jurassic some hack with Sonic, you cancelled the project? I really liked it. ____________________ My Linktree |

-Thanks, I'm putting a lot of effort into the hack, more than I have with any other before. -as for the Jurassic boy hack with sonic, I did some graphical editing past the most recent patch, but haven't done anything since (Due to the fact that I didn't know, and still don't fully understand, ASM.) However I might do a bit more with it |

Oh man, that Stage Select with all the "withered" Robot Masters is badass as heck.
Here's to hoping you make good progress with this in the future, I'll certainly be giving the demo a quick run. |
