This is a hack I'm working on. It's only part one of my Luigi's Quest Trilogy. I don't have any level screens yet, because I've been mainly focusing on the overworld. I have pics of the overworld, though.

Comments?

NOTE: These are a bit outdated, because I moved a few level tiles and overworld tiles. In addition to that, I've added a few Toad Houses acros the map.

Wow. If you can design the levels as good as your overworld...I say it should be a very good hack.

AKA I really really like your overworld.

I don't see anything much wrong with the overworld, just a few suggestions though.

1. Maybe put a few more rocks in the sea on the right of the main overworld, but not too many more.
2. There's a few places where you don't have the little wrap-around corner edge tiles, like in the Special world sub-map along the cliff edges.
3. The parts where you have big expanses of sky bug me for some reason. There's not much you can do for the Bowser one, but maybe you could create a sun or something for the Special map's sky.
4. The blue parts of the big trees aren't doing it for me... It looks unnatural. (Then again, so do trees with faces but that's beside the point.) I'd go with a different color.

Other than those few minor things, it looks really good. If your levels are as well designed as the overworld, I think it'll turn out great!

(Edit: I did not just copy off of Koitenshin's comment. I wrote that on my own then saw that he'd written something very similiar. )

WOAH. How does someone I haven't heard of make such an overworld??? I've been hacking SMW for six years, yet can't figure that part out at all...

You need to join the SMW Central forum.

The overworld looks amazing. It all seems very well done and I like that there are lots of levels with secret exits

There are small stars too, but they're just not visible in the screenshot.

I've been hacking for a while, too. I'm not a "n00b that just started." I have a year's worth of experience.

Your colors are superb.

...with the exception of the desert, which looks too much like highlighter yellow and not enough like sand yellow. Sand is darker than that, and the darker color would clash less with your nice dark grass and water colors.

I like your style. Keep it up.

Although you've got a nice variety going in the overworld, it still looks limited and suppressed. Take that same initiative you had with putting in doodads on the overworld and apply it to the blocky pieces of land. Try using different textures so everything doesn't look like different colors of sand. It's still interesting nonetheless and I'm anticipating a fair hack.

Looking good. The first submap though (with castle 1) has a really strange looking cliff at the top of it. It looks flat when it should look round. Try adding tiles to make it seem more 3D and then it will be fine.

Other then that, nice. I like your choice of palettes, and the Roman Numerals on the signs. Looks ancient

I changed a bunch of roundish blocks to square, so they fit in more. I've also managed to rip the ! Blocks from Yoshi's Island. They replace the ? Block to add style.

(And they animate perfectly!)

My only complaint is the land leading up from castle I - it just looks odd and unrealistic. I find it hard to say just why I find it odd - I think it's because it looks like a completely flat line going up a waterfall.

Other than that, it's really cool.

I'll fix it then, since more than one person complained about it.

Nice overworld. Now give me some level screenshots. (No really, shots of the levelswould be nice, but please, not directly from LM.)

Hmm, after looking at the screenshots again I noticed that the overworld seems quite a bit darker than the original, was that intentional? (Or maybe its my computer...but I don't think so).

The original burns eyes.
I think the prolem is that the bottom corners look... too bidimensional... thwy look like vertical squares, making the land after castle 1 look weird.

Actually, that overworlds proportions are all over the frigging place. Middle of the picture for instance, the land drops to another level, but the water next to it all decides to stay perfectly fine.

During the Video the message box says "A - Nothing". Shouldn't "A" be pick up?

Fix'd.

Shouldn't X and Y be run/pick up? Or am I missing something here?
