I've tried hooking my N64 up to all three of my TVs,,, 2 LEDs, and one LCD.

The LCD I can get to work with video, but no audio (My audio slot is messed up on that TV.).

The other 2 it won't even recognize the N64 at all (No matter what ports I've tried. I've tried them all).

I was toying with the idea of getting a RGB to cable setup, or getting a RGB to HDMI.

My question is which of the two methods would be better, and have better quality, or would I still have the same problem with it not recognizing my N64 (I think that both would bypass the problem.)?

I would look into the audio slot problem first on your lcd and see about getting that fixed.
If no other device works on it using that port you got problems.
As for the cable, when I had my n64 I used rca cables either straight to the tv or vcr hookup.
If you have a dvd, vcr hookup to your tv don't bother trying to make your n64 through it that way,
More problems than you need to currently deal with.

That would be enough to get you up and running

Could be a modern TV problem. If you have an old TV it might work, try it...
