I will admit that the following post may be viewed as biased because of my alignment, but I'm going to try to be as objective and impartial to this situation as possible.

Board2 is a great place to come if only for reviewing things that have been done already. The data that is there is the only reason that the section still sees occasional posts. It may feel like the only home people have had (and probably still is) to discuss, share, release, and assist with their material.

It is known that Kafuka doesn't have a strong section for ROM hacking and such. We have one, but we hope to increase it and make more users feel welcome.

Stufid, thanks for looking past the bickering and trying to be objective to go take a look at Kafuka. Thank you for your words of approval. This is the kind of feedback that we work for.

I believe that this is one of the reasons that the section in Kafuka isn't as big as the one in board2. People are comfortable with where they're at, and this is where a lot of the data and some of the tools/authors are. I recognize that. But as abrasive as Mega-Mario was, I tend to agree with the point he was making. What is protecting this board from being attacked? I know some of the staff here, and they seem nice, but board2 is basically an unattended child near a swimming pool. The worst will happen eventually.

Let me state it right now though. Kafuka will NOT attack board2, regardless of what was implied in this thread. Kafuka is a means to beginnings, not a means to an end. We would be going against everything we are if we do anything to this board. If we truly are the community we aspire to be, we are going to attract users the right way and they will move on their own.

If the community wants a safe haven, with staff that actually exists and regularly does things, and want to operate under an umbrella of protection, then the users here are encouraged to do what they can to make the transplant to Kafuka. This means having a mutual understanding among everyone who posts here that certain things must be done for this to work. Program authors need to know where to post their things, data needs to be gathered, and users need to feel confident they are going to get the answers they're looking for.

ROM Hacking in general is spread pretty thin these days. And right now, most of them are here, RHDN, SMWC, and Metconst. I gotta admit, I'm pretty jealous. But as admin on Kafuka, I'm telling everyone who reads this post that we will put in the effort to make Kafuka the community you want to be a part of.
