Guitar Hero @ xkcd

Who here plays Guitar Hero?

I previously had not, although I wanted to. Thankfully at the start of this year, I did have a little bit of temporarily disposable income and now I own a controller and the first and second game.

My partner introduced it to me mid-January, and I really enjoy it. Because I work a lot, it's one of those games I can pick up in spare pockets of time and give myself wrist injuries with!

I'm currently trying to go through the game on Hard but I am frequently subjected to multiplayer Expert by my partner. The eventual goal is to go through it on Expert, but for now I'll settle for doing Hard without too much RSI.

It's funny, when I got my real guitar, Derek (my partner) also mentioned it might make me better at Guitar Hero (lol)

I <3 my Guitar Hero

*holds his shield up*

Honestly, I've never been a fan of games such as DDR and whatnot, because I really suck at them, but I really like Guitar Hero quite a bit.

I've only played it here and there a few times at friends houses, and I can only manage Medium. But I plan on getting GHII once it finally comes to the 360 (downloadable content will rock).

Definitely a great game. So fun at parties.

I own Guitar Hero II, and as I'm sure most of IRC knows, I've been playing it religiously since christmas. Sadly, I can only do Hard mode at the immediate moment... Passed Beast and the Harlot today, though.

Freebird on Expert mode amirite

I have a few friends who can beat the entire game, but everyone seems to say Jordan is the toughest on Expert.

I have tried it, and I fail. Miserably. I have extremely bad coordination and pretty slow reaction times, so me and this game do not get along. I do find it entertaining at times to watch other people play it and wish that I was that good.

I saw some of my friends playing this game some time ago. I have yet to try either the first Guitar Hero or the sequel. I'm not really too sure if I want to play this or not.

I'm curious, has anybody here used Frets on Fire? It's an open source Guitar Hero clone, looks interesting.

Stepmania for Guitar Hero nerds?

Yeah, there's actual hacks all over for the real game too also.

This is probably the coolest custom track I've seen so far, FFVI Boss Theme:

I've played it a bit thanks to a friend's purchase and the university gaming club, but I'm still completely and utterly useless at it. XD

...... my partner wants to play Dragonforce on Guitar Hero II now....

I don't think he believes that this "breaks" anything, Grey. I'm unsure, and I might keep the first aid kit handy in case it breaks him.

Guitar Hero is amazawesome. I have I & II, though we haven't played at my apartment lately. When I do play, I usually play on Hard, though some of the later II songs stretch my limits. I'm looking forward to GHII on 360 to see how bad I am on the online leaderboards.

lol blank cell
Guitar Hero is one of my favorite games. The first time I played it was horrendous though. HDTV + Guitar Hero = Fail. The game freezes and lags too much. :\ I can play just about every Medium song and some Hard and Expert songs, but I'm not that great. I don't own it yet (I've only played over friend's houses), but I'll probably get it for the Xbox 360 when it comes out.

I have already posted this elsewhere, might as well praise the game s'more...
Guitar Hero is what brought me back to console gaming.

For a damn good while I never touched my Gamecube or Xbox. IT was PC or bust for like almost a year. Then boom, like a freaking ray of mother fucking light. I saw some guy playing GH at Best Buy. He actually looked be having FUN of all things..

He left, I picked up the little plastic guitar. Immediate felt embarrassed, played 1 song on medium...INSTATLY become utterly and hopelessly addicted.

Picked up a PS2 and GH1 about a week later and never looked back. I actually didn't turn on my PC for like 5 days...a record which shall never be broken.

I reserved GH2, got it on release day and shredded through it like I was on crack. I don't know anyone who plays it more than me, although I do know of 2 people that are better than me. I met them in a GH competition naturally.

I can 5 star any song on Expert except Psychobilly freak out and Jordan. Jordan is definitely the hardest song in the game. But I rarely try to five star it cuze i just don't like it. (Stupidly uninteligable, un-listenable solos)

And unless, any sort of announcements are made soon regarding other Guitar Hero games, I plan on getting a 360 just for the GH2. Yes, I know its not very smart to get the same game twice, but I like me my toy guitar.

I don't like Guitar Hero. Not because I suck at it, because... I can't get into it.

I own it and have played a total of 3 songs on it. I just could not get into it anymore after that, even though my sister loves that game to death. She has every song unlocked and after looking through it I just don't care for the songs. None of them are really catchy enough for me and every once in a while when my sister's boyfriend wants to play 2P I'll play, but I win with no problem.

Guitar Hero II had some more variety, but not much more. Its just... not my style of game.

Yes, I play StepMania, DDR, ITG, PIU, beatmania, and O2Jam, but I just can't get into Guitar Hero. And I love rock, too. I just... don't know, none of the songs appeal to me that much, I guess.

Until it's Soothsayer - Buckethead, then it's nothing.

Jordan is not Buckethead's fastest song and it most certainly isn't his hardest to play song.

I don't play it enough. Really.

My brother-in-law hates the Ps2....yet he buys one just to play the orginal Guitar Hero. After I heard about that, I had to try it for myself...and of course I love it. I have the 2nd one as well and now I can't wait to play it on th XB360. Too bad you can't go head to hear against someone via XBox Live.
