Wait okay so, are you trolling (my god that signature) or are you just trying to force-convert everyone?

Force convert....

Ah, no never! There's just a lot of stuff happening around this world to Christians, and all I can look up and say is "-sigh- Prophecy."

Did you hear about all the Christian churches that were destroyed... I cannot for the life of me remember, but somewhere way east.

Okay, then I invite you to continue indeed. The way your signature is phrased, it seemed suspect, but you seem genuine.

You could probably have an interesting discussion with flan (or whatever his name is now), I'll point him over here.

Thanks! (=

"The violence in northern Nigeria is mistakenly viewed as a religious conflict rather than simply a tribal dispute over land, according to the Obama administration. Despite the ongoing Muslim destruction of churches and the slaughter of Christians, including many murdered during worship services."

There was also another article, where they were testing torture on Christians, to see how the belief interfered with their ability to feel pain. I gotta refind that article.

Something even a bit more ridiculous than i've ever seen^

There are reasons many say religion is something one should not discuss on the internet, if this thread spiral down into anything I'm closing it, just a heads up.

As for me? I'm an agnostic, as I believe in what logic can prove, yada yada, the wikipage on agnostics says everything you need to know if you're unsure.

I have a friend who is also Agnostic. We talked about the Bible once, but the only thing he didn't understand really was Noah's Ark. Like he understood the story, but he asks a lot of the same questions others ask, "How could all those animals fit onto that ark?" It was an interesting conversation though.

I personally am a Roman Catholic, but with my own beliefs. I don't follow the Church blindly, I just do what I think the Bible is implying. I believe that a some of the Old Testament never happened and is mostly metaphors, but written by people who clearly had a good message. I also am a heavy believer in evolution. I personally think evolution and the Big Bang were both things God intended in this world. I also think all of our religions need to stop fighting and live in peace. Isn't Christianity mostly about acceptance, forgiveness, and love?

That is what Christianity is about, truth, peace, love, forgiveness, changing lives to live in accord with Jesus Christ. World peace would be good if we all believed in Jesus, the way he wanted us too. But there's too much division and strife. But he did want us to disconnect from other brothers, who share heresies, and believe not what we believe. You know? :/ We're supposed to be good with the light we have, and share it, and not corrupt it. But sometimes people split up and apart because of certain beliefs that they refuse to share. And actually, the Bible does teach us to come out of heretical churches. Even if we wanted World Peace, it would be a bad idea to join along with other religions. I'm not saying, lets go and start wars and kill people because of their beliefs. What i'm saying is, you can live separatly, but peacefully (well we can try to).

I also think all of our religions need to stop fighting and live in peace.

I actually created my own little theory that most if not all are right and wrong in some sense and that we are all just fighting over the same meaning overall.

And I actually made another theory (for my story I am writing) that once all of creation was once one creature (just to clarify, they WERE created, not just appeared or whatever) that divided over time into other species of creatures (by divided, I mean as families go on, certain aspects were broken down and passed), overtime the "originals" either hid or went off into far lands. Then eventually everything split off even further and took part of the original believes and added their own to it thus creating different societies and whatnot. Something big happened and our world split off from the original and was sent into this dimension or something like that. In my story I am even developing an "original" language composed of several other major ones into one big complex one...but I haven't really worked on it much because I mainly speak English. I'd need some people to eventually work with me if I were to complete it.

Anyways, overall, I was born in a Christian family but I was always okay with what people wanted to do with themselves and their views. However, I used to be fairly strict with my own until a bit later and realized that I had this system and needed to feel free in it. I just felt that I was forcing myself on certain issues so that changed about a year or so ago. As for my total "structure" of beliefs, I am not too sure exactly. I've undergone many changes to be honest.

Nick says "pretty sure this is called evolution"

I didn't think many would respond due to the (a)theological shitstorm they'd almost certainly bring upon themselves at some point in their near (or distant) future. Threads like these tend to really stir up heated strife amongst the users. I'm reluctant to talk about it on the net, but here goes:

The main problem seems to be ignorance on both sides. Whenever any sort of (a)theological conversation comes up, both sides already enter the conversation believing that they're in the right and there is no possible way they could be wrong, and that they're doing their "opponent" and the rest of the world a big favor by doing everything in their power to make the other guy look like an idiot who is also wrong. We should all know from the bible, our parents, and even Kindergarten teachers and cartoons and such that people should always be treated with respect. Just because some guy doesn't believe in the same things you do doesn't make him less deserving of kindness and respect. I've been religious pretty much my whole life, but most of my best friends aren't religious. It doesn't mean I think they're better or worse than anyone else.

Nice. Maybe it's just me or maybe it's because people don't like admitting that they're religious online, but I never see many members of the church on websites like this.

Well, quoting WingNutDaily is significantly more likely to bring an "(a)theological shitstorm" upon oneself than simply claiming membership of some religious group...

I am usually a pretty vocal agnostic atheist myself, although I have long concluded that arguing with people about religious issues with the intention of making them reconsider their views is an utterly futile endeavour. However, if convincing the other side is not one's aim, some verbal sparring can be quite entertaining at times, and so...

Ah, no never! There's just a lot of stuff happening around this world to Christians, and all I can look up and say is "-sigh- Prophecy."
I'll bite. For every case of "stuff happening to Christians" (provided you don't linkdump a large, time-binding collection on me), I can link you a case of atheists being persecuted in a similar or more severe vein. You can then tell me where cases such as this fit into this "-sigh- Prophecy" you are speaking of.

Well, if arguments don't work and what it ultimately boils down is whether they or you convince the most people to vote at the next referendum for the respective other side to be disenfranchised or walked over, sometimes the best thing you can do is to make the others look ridiculous so that a hapless bystander is less inclined to be associated with them.
Science and logic undermine religion within their cognitive framework as efficiently as religion undermines science and logic within its own (and to preclude any sort of "religion is 100% scientific, the scientists are just wrong about science" response, I shall use those notions as defined by nonreligious and religious people respectively; the circumstance that they can not agree on what logic is in itself already demonstrates that there is no common cognitive framework); when you don't have any common basis to conduct an argumentative exchange on, pretending that what you are trying to appeal to is anything other than emotion is simply naive and dishonest.

I think it's great how we're all different religions, but we never cared about it enough to ask until now. If only all religions could get along as well as we are in this topic. Religion is a tricky topic to discussing due to there being little evidence so I'm glad to see this is remaining civil.

Hmm, that won't happen ninja, if people who are different religions have different views about christians, christ or the bible itself people will always be at arms with each other until they can find someone with a voice of reasoning for all people.

Yes, I am christian you got problem with that folks ?
One thing I don't bring up on chat forums or barely irc is religion.
However if the people who are curious or want to piggy back off what they know and where they come from religion I'll talk to you on certain terms.

Anything else I care not to talk to people about it for many personal reasons.

Well, I had no idea so much of the current userbase is religious. I recall the board having an overall atheistic sentiment in the past.

Anyway, I'm a Roman Catholic too, with a general outlook similar to ninjablooper's.
