Posted by ifightdragons Something like this: [_url_]www.something.com[_/url_]. All you have to do is minus the _ to get it to work in the future. But I can understand if that is an issue for you. What I can do is add them myself for you when I see them missing in the future. So don't worry about it. I'll try to take care of them for you from now on. If I can be of any further assistance to you or if you are having issues on the forum, you are free to PM me at any time. --ShaneM ____________________ At the end, when the day is over, the only one left to face is yourself. What he meant, is to simply add something at the beginning and end of the url for it to work, namely (url)www.etc(/url). The (url) means start of url, the (/url) means end. But of course the normal brackets ( need to be [ instead. The same thing is used for quoting= (quote) or any other acceptable command. And the same for image= (img) etc.
This is definitely possible, you can do this yourself also if you like. Once you have a patched file, choose "create ips file" instad of "apply ips file" in LunarIPS and choose the PRG1 as the original rom. You will thus make an ips file with PRG1 base. Or I can do this for you. And also add and UPS patch for both PRG0 and PRG1, since with the ips you can patch to a false original file and not realize it (ironically the game might still load anyway). Note: even experienced users can do this wrong on their first try if they don't have the original rom info or id-hashes. |

Posted by puzzledude There, I think I got the hang of posting URLs at least. Thanks for the help both of you. If you could do a patch job it would be really cool. I tried doing so myself, but must have messed up at some point because it won't load. |

Here you go. updated version http://acmlm.kafuka.org/uploader/get.php?id=4727 Note: there is a minimal difference in the resulting roms, if you patch IPS PRG0 to NES file PRG0, or NES file PRG1. So if you patch wrong, the game will still load. In this case you might encounter some additional bugs, which are not in the game if patched correctly. Also, it seems like the SHA-1 hash for the original rom PRG0 has been falsly calculated on Romhacking.net under Rom/Iso info; and the CRC-32 is calculated for the Rom data only, not for the entire nes file. I've added all the correct hashes accordingly in a txt file. EDIT I've corrected the previous problems. This time the patches are made from the original rom, with the exact hashes as stated on Romhacking.net (ROM SHA-1 A12D74C73A0481599A5D832361D168F4737BBCF6). There are namely two PRG0 nes roms: ROM SHA-1 7948EE276C553DD56EB39E05234D62EBCC74C9AF ROM SHA-1 A12D74C73A0481599A5D832361D168F4737BBCF6 The upper one has a suffix (b4) in the file name and the size is 20090 in hex rather than 20010. I guess I accidently stumbled uppon a non standard version (since the 20000 no header and 20010 with header is surely the correct file size). |

Thanks a bunch man That worked like a charm!
And for those wondering, I did not buy the ShopFlashback repro cart, because I am not insane (150 bucks...). Just patched my Legend of Zelda cart on the Retron 5. |

I can confirm v4.0 is working on real hardware (PAL & NTSC NES).
If you really want to play the game on real hardware, you will have 2 options. Buy an outdated overpriced version from Flashback Entertainment or make one yourself. Since this is a hack, I strongly recommend you to create a cartridge with sockets. In this case, every time a new version is released you just erase the EPROMs and burn them again, without soldering! The last time I posted a picture of my socketed EWROM cartridge, I received a lot of PMs how I did the wiring. So I made a small guide to help everyone. You can click on the pictures for a full-sized image! Step 1 – Get a donor cartridge There are currently one 4 known NES games which use an EWROM based PCB. You need one of these games to use as a donor cartridge; there are 3 Famicom games: • Aoki Ookami to Shiroki Mejika: Genchou Hishi • Nobunaga no Yabou: Bushou Fuuunroku • Sangokushi II And of course the English translation of Sangokushi II, this is the only NES game available: • Romance of the Three Kingdoms II You can find this information using bootgods website Step 2 – Desolder the MASK ROMs The next step is to desolder the original MASK ROMs. I used a Famicom cartridge, this type you can easily open with a 3.8mm Gamebit. Also check if the battery isn’t drained, all my EWROM games had a fully drained battery. Swap it or replace it with a battery holder. Step 3 – Cut the traces MMC5 based MASK ROMs don’t have a different pinout for PRG and CHR-ROM. So this step is somehow the same. You can find the details at nesdev) The conversion I used is:
So, we need to cut the traces for hole 1,2,24,30 and 31. First, do the CHR-ROM, cut the traces 1,2,30 and 31 on the back side. Please note cut both traces for pin 31! Cut the trace for pin 24 on the front side. Do the same for the PRG ROM, cut the traces 2,24,30 and 31 on the back side. Cut the trace for pin 1 on the front side Step 4 – Soldering Solder the 32-PIN sockets (or the EPROM directly) to the PCB, need need to bend pins. I used this conversion to make the EPROMs work:
The next step is to solder a small wire to pin 64 (PRG A17) of the MMC5 chip (pin out MMC5 is available here). I use thin Kynar AWG30 wires. Soldering this wire can be a little bit tricky. I put the wire through the hole above (don't solder it to this hole, you need to solder it on the back to PRG pin 1) Next, solder the to the PRG socket pins. See the picture for reference. Do the same for the CHR ROM. Please note the 2nd wire to pin 24! The cartridge is now done! Burn some EPROMs and start playing your favourite hacks! If you don't have the time, skills or courage to do this, I am willing to sell or trade (PAL-B only) some of my EWROM socketed cartridges, without EPROMs! Send me a PM if you are interested, I could do something with the price if you send me a donor cartridge. Have fun soldering and gaming! |

Posted by Proveaux Correct, but if you use the pin bending trick, there is no chance to reprogram your EPROMs. Since if you bend those pins 2 times they will break. 27C801/27C080 EPROM are too expensive (5 euro / each) to trow away after 1 or 2 times... but that's my opinion. |

Posted by ChaobomrPosted by math5 euro? Sounds kinda cheap if you ask me! Then again, I'm not exactly made of money, so... You can get a 2Mbit EEPROM (29C020), which can be used for 70% of the NES games, for like 0,60 euro. So, this EPROM is expensive. But still, if you make the game yourself - Donor Famicom 15 Euros / Donor NES 40 Euros - 2x 27C801 EPROMs 10 Euros - Wires / solder / sockets 5 Euros - 2 hours of soldering fun - priceless Do the math, you can have a working version of this game for about 30 Euros. Of cource, you need to tools and skills... But I think every NES hacking geek has a soldering iron at home |

Hello, I wanted to share that on SpeedRunsLive (speedrunslive.com) tomorrow at around 8PM EST, some of us will be doing a "blind" race of this game, where we play through the game in one sitting. We're very excited to explore this game, and I thought that I'd share here. Thanks for the promising-looking hack! |

Posted by mathI can think of more than one reason why I would need a soldering iron. Let's just say that it could make things cheaper in the long run... ____________________ Sorry for the stupidity. That jerk will be dealt with in the most insane way possible. |

Is there a walkthrough or something for this? I can't enter the 3rd temple. I need to be able to push a rock or something and cant find any upgrades. All I have is roc's feather. I also keep entering caves with witches inside that say nothing. I'm playing v4 with Nestopia. |

I found a glitch in the game. In the lower left of the map there is a heart piece that can only be attained by going from the light to dark world and back in order to reach the chest. The chest keeps respawing with a heart piece every time you switch between worlds allowing infinite heart pieces. The game seems to stop giving new hearts of life after I've reached 14 hearts even though I can still keep attaining heart pieces. |

Posted by Tripper511 That's the desert area, right? I saw that the chest had respawned in the Youtube video I was watching. The player never opened it so it was not revieled what was inside the respawned chest, but now we know. Same serie of videos (link 2 and 3 posts up) shows that chest containing keys (least I think so) keep respawning maybe while emptying other chest somewhere else. I mean you open respawned chest and afterwards you seem to come across empty chests in areas where you have seem unopened unobtainable chest, then you return to the area and suddenly the chest has been emtied. Prime example on the video is the river maze area (the one that looks like link's awekening's rafting mini game). When the player first goes thru the maze in light world he can't get the chests but when he then comes the via dark world every chest is empty. |

Oh in case anyone is looking for a walkthrough I found another youtube video for this game. It's one long (6 hours) video with a menu in the beginning that can be used if the other video I posted in a earlier post isn't helpful enough. You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe7iNA3oSCE |

I recommend a much easier wiring alternative.
The Legend of Link Eprom Wiring: Bend up pins 1,2,24,30,31 PRG pin 1 (A19) -> hole 30 pin 2 (A16) -> hole 24 pin 24 (/OE) -> hole 31 (prg /ce on mmc5) pin 30 (A17) -> hole 1 pin 31 (A18) -> hole 2 CHR: same layout as PRG |
