Just downloaded it. Will patch tomorrow. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Alrighty, then. I just patched it and already ran into a couple of weird things.
It seems to mess with the Game Genie screen (don't ask why I have the Game Genie running), there seem to be a couple of graphical glitches (including I'm guessing a shift to the wrong tileset in one of the shops), and if you press left or right in the inventory screen when you have no items, the music changes to what I'm going to guess is the dungeon music. I'm still checking this out as I go. Hope this helps for when you make the beta.
EDIT: Here's the messed up Game Genie screen

Sorry for the size, I was running FCEUx in a maximized screen.

Game Genie, I have no idea. :-(

The inventory cursor music glitch, I actually stumbled onto that last night, and that has been fixed.

The shops/caves, the vast majority of them have not yet been designed, theres still work to be done design wise with the caves

To everyone, is the wiki page I created not working? Is that why I'm not getting any reports there?

It would really help me out if all bug/glitches were sent to the wiki page I created. The link is on the first page of this forum.

Just out of curiosity, how do I upload images to Wikipedia?

Oh I have no idea. Ive never created a compatability website. Im new to this aspect. I know text can be edited by anyone, no idea on pics. Maybe post a direct img link like the ones you get from photobucket.

I edited your page to include the glitches I have found so far.
Wikipedia actually has a upload feature. There are some weird prerequisites to upload, however, including making ten edits and being a member for four days. Yeesh.

Oh no, sorry to hear that.

I guess visuals of bugs/glitchs will have to be within this thread.

I added a few things to your wiki page, while testing version 0.8...

One thing that I find mildly annoying, and it has already been said a few times, is the precision threshold for interactive tiles (bushes, diggable ground, hammer blocks, etc.), which is nearly 100%...

In that regard, I suggest you take a look at memory $394,X (X being 0-B, 0 is Link). I call it Inter-Tile Offset (0-F). Maybe you can use this value to help approximate the distance to a specific tile...

The precision is the best I can do at this point. I cant get it any better.

The sword sprite, I have it using the games solid/non solid hit detection. The problem is that game uses 8x16 sprites, and the hit detction is being directed at the bottom 8x8 tile, not throughout the entire 8x16 sprite.

So ive had to do complicated math with the swords position, forcing its physical property to extend past its graphical property, and try to have it compare if its currently over a tile that initiates new asm.

This has been very difficult to pull off,.months, literaly, plural, months, have gone into the sword mechanics, and this is the farthest i can take it to.

It will never be on par with lttp or la.

Btw, thank you for those in depth reports on the wiki page. Glad to see the site works!

Something has been bothering me: Is part of the map supposed to look like Koholint Island, or is it just a placeholder?

I used LA as a template, but it's mirrored. it would've taken me forever to complete an entire new light world/dark world.

Starting up work again on the project.

Im now reducing/modifying the amount of enemies within the outworld and dungeons. The slowdown has been almost non existent, so its definitly working. Certain dungeon enemies/bosses will cause a slight slowdown, mostly anything that shoots multiple fireballs. The sand worm im Level-2 causes slowdown, and i will assume the 1 eyed snakes in Level-9 will produce the same result.

Ill also be tackeling the laundry list of reports on the bug/glitch website.

Also, the intro and story are complete, and that will be released when the game is finalized.

Again id like to thank everyone for downloading the patch and playing! :-)

Doy! That explains the lack of a title screen! This might be why the Game Genie glitches up as well. Might have to wait until you release the beta to see for sure.

Just wanted to give another update.

Ive been going through all the dungeons, adjusting specific things causing slowdowns, and the results are great!

Once im 100% sure that the dungeons and ending are all done, ill begin working on the bug/glitch list.

After that I will release one more alpha build. I encourage when that alpha is released, for players to please submit any additional bugs/glitches, cause after that alpha build, ill be preparing the first Beta build.

I tested your current wip of your hack on my DS lite, nothing froze up on me yet.
I'll release the video shortly so you can drool at your game running on realnintendo based hardware.
Even if its coming from nes.ds 1.3a.

Awesome!

If you find a bug/glitch, please check the wiki page so there are no duplicate posts.

Alot of bugs from v8.0 have been fixed, and the first Beta is looking more and more promising!

All 9 dungeons are in working order.

Im very excited over the fast progress of everything jelling together!

I've run into a problem, and I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it: I can't find the upgrade to the sword or the raft.

Here's one screenshot. I cannot remember the other screen where the game crashed, but I think Trax found it.

I'm going to drop of something in your inbox, I hope you can make good use out of them.
As promised, your video, keep in mind I'm doing this with one hand. :/
I need to find a stand that will mount any ds console and get proper lighting.
Enjoy man:

Keep it, I hope you can make good use of these to any projects you got going.
Yes, all of the midi's should open in any midi editor.

Thanks Chaobomr, this one is all set. :-)
Also, idk how to activate the Game Genie for FCEUX. I load it up, and a window pops up where you can insert specific addresses, but the game still runs fine. If you are inserting regular Game Genie codes into my hack, then more than likely they will not work, since this game was almost completely overhauled. I'm not guaranteeing this will work, nor doing extensive work to make it co-exist with my hack, but what is it exactly you are doing that is causing the glitch?

@MikeTechno, I really do appreciate the video upload! Really cool seeing it played on a DS Lite! Thanks again for showing me that! :-)

I'm just running the Game Genie itself. I'm guessing it's the overhaul and I might wanna look at the mapper conversions to be sure. I'm not using FCEUXD's Game Genie encoder 'cuz I sometimes get issues by using it. The Game Genie is just a standard gg.rom that runs right before your selected rom, probably like how a real Game Genie works. It's a graphical glitch as far as I can tell, however, but I think some cheater will probably want to be able to see what code they are putting in.
