Just wanted to let everyone know that the new soundtrack is coming along well. Got about 11 songs complete. Each dungeon (1-9) will have they're own song, im currently working on the 7th dungeon song. Once all the songs are complete, im going to sift through all the games that use 6C80 sound engine, to see if there are any sfx I want to use, sfx creation im not that good with.

Gfx by Thanatos is coming along well too. Just about all outworld enemies have been redesigned.

Progress is coming along, I do apologize for the delay in updates, but I feel the next release will be worth the wait. :-)

Just wanted to give another update regarding the sound engine.

Progress is really coming along now. The Dark World now has its own theme music. All 9 Dungeons have they're own individual song. There are additional tunes as well, for boss fights and one devoted just for Ganon.

Im holding off on composing an ending song, since im not at the stage of having the entire concept of the game in order.

Currently I have begun working on re-creating the sfx from Zelda 1. With the aid of Matrixz's updated 6C80 document, I have a better understaning of creating sfx from scratch. I have 4 sfx that are 95% identical to its original sound. For those who want to know, then load up the original Zelda rom, goto ram address $602, and insert, 01,02,04,08.

I hope to get intouch with Matrixz involving a proper fadeout of a note.

Thank you all again for your patience!

After all this... you think this'll fit in a standard cartridge?

Thank you very much Celice! :-)

@Chaobomr, im not sure.

I dont know much about mmc5 cartridges, but for those that want to inject the rom into an mmc5, it'll need to be able to do the following...

1. Have 1024kb space for PRG-ROM & CHR-ROM.
2. Allow access to PRG-RAM from $5C00-$5FFF.

I forget the name of the company I was communicating with, but the guy said if my work didnt use the mmc5 special features such as the additional sound channels, and any form of EX features, he could put it on a cartridge. I dont think ill be able to relocate my PRG-RAM, maybe once the game is just about finished, ill see if I have enough free space in my HW bank, to relocate my PRG-RAM there.

If you really don't mind, let me test whatever stable beta you have.
I need to see if it might run on nesds 1.3a or not.

Gameplay is in the same condition as my current alpha release. The only vast changes are the updated sprite designs by Thanatos-Zero, and the 6C80 sound engine.

Also, im having great success in re-creating the original Zelda sfx, ive got 5 more to work on, then other than an ending theme, im done with the sound engine.

Heh, im still hoping to have this complete within 2013. The sound engine was the last major feature.

I still need updated sprites for my inventory items and the dungeon enemies/bosses.

I also have to work on where everything will be located, stores, items, etc throughout the light/dark world.

Im really excited to get back to work at the rest of the game. All the sfx are complete, and im in the process of reassigning the sfx id's to all that initiate the sound engine.

:-)

Do you still want reports on bugs? I'm not sure what bugs you fixed or didn't fix, or what you are or aren't aware of. But playing through your Alpha v0.6, there are plenty of bugs I have found, and I actually have them recorded on video. One of the bugs, I know how you can fix it, because I see what is causing it. It has to do with the Pegasus Boots. You don't necessarily need to be using the Pegasus Boots. You simply have to have them equipped. Once they are equipped, if you walk onto the next screen, and just before the screen finishes scrolling, press and hold down the B button, the player will instantly move his x position all of the way to the other side of the screen.

Let me know. If you want, I can upload a video of everything I found.

Yes I was aware of the pegasus boot screen glitch, and it was fixed.

My current rom has been tweaked alot since 0.6, but I would still like to know what you have found.

Thank you!

I simply put the individually-recorded video files together into one clip. I'll go through them with you. I didn't bother adding the Pegasus Boots one, because you already know about it.

Before I begin, I set all of the RAM addresses to 01 to activate all of the items, so I didn't have to play through all of the game to get them.

00:00 - 00:54

The first one, I didn't test extensively for the light world, but I have seen it before in the light world in an earlier demo. As you will see, the bug appears in the Dark World. Most likely it simply has to do with the Hook Shot ASM itself. I doubt it is dependent on the World itself. Link glitches up and then he can't move.

00:54 - 1:08

You may already know about this, since it is most likely not complete yet. Using the hammer in the cave freezes the game.

1:09 - 1:30

Slamming against a cave wall with the Pegasus Boots causes the palette to turn to black.

1:30 - 2:36

You can obviously use the shovel and the sword at the same time, and it causes some problems. Not only graphical problems. You can actually lock the player up, so the player can't move. You have to press the shovel button again to unlock the character.

Also, I don't know if you fixed this or not, but in an earlier build, I was able to use the shovel to chip away the lower-right corner of the outside cave wall, at time index 1:30 - 2:36. Other than that, I'm sure you know about shovel graphics not being perfectly aligned with Link.

If I find more, I will let you know.

It might have something to do with the fact that caves are only one screen. I'm not entirely sure, however, so infidelity might know better

I wish I could play it using Nestopia, but the game always crashes before I can see the saved games selection screen. Must be because of the MMC5 mapper...

EDIT: never mind, it works. Now if I can find a sword...

For sword, from starting position, go Down, Down, Left, Up.

The alpha builds never had proper placement of items, enemies, etc. Even the dungeons are not properly functional.

If anybody encounters a game freeze when entering a new screen id, please let me know via screenshot or even the hex value within $EB. And, I need to what direction you entered from.

To get the sword, I simply set address $657 to #$01.

Ive been very busy the past week, working on a new item for Link. Progress has been fantastic imo.

Im hoping by tomorrow ill have a new video demonstrating what I did.

What I will say, is that The Lens of Truth will not be in my hack. There were too many possibilities for me to choose/not choose, and a vast majority would've required a major overhaul of how my tiles are drawn.

Anyway, ill try to get a video up asap.
