Hey everyone, I just had four quick questions.
(A) I was wondering how you change what sprite a monster has in the new version of Lazy Shell? I know the old Lazy Shell you were able to just click on it's picture and change pallettes and swap it out but it appears that you can't do it in the newest version and I can't figure out how. And I'm not asking how to EDIT a sprite, that's in the sprite section...I'm talking about how to change the "Goomba" monster to say...another graphic, without importing it in, using another one that exists in SMRPG. (B) Are there any tutorials on how to make maps? Because I've tried doing it before and there were problems with Mario not being able to touch the ground and what not. (C) How do you make special gear, I.E.. like the Jump Shoes that deal extra damage when jumping. Like if I wanted to make a "Cure Ring" which makes Mallow heal for more with HP Rain, how would I go about doing that? and finally... (D) When editing Dialogue, is it safe to edit the texts that are repeated like fifty times? When scrolling for spare space to put in new dialogue I saw a bunch of repeated lines, are they dummy lines aka free space or will it cause game problems? Thank you in advance, and I appreciate all help! |

A) You can do that in the new versions, just like in the old ones. Change the "Image" and "Animation" values to the sprite who's image/animation you want to use. Change "Palette Row" values to make a palette swap. This feature has never been removed from Lazy Shell.
B) I think there are, but you'll have to explain in more detail what your problem is. C) To make a custom special function, that requires ASM hacking beyond Lazy Shell's capabilities. D) Unlike older versions, it is now safe to edit duplicate dialogues. You can desynchronize them by unchecking the "Synchronize Duplicates" button. |

For the sprite thing, I've been trying to follow this thread: http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?id=3965 and I cannot find the place to put the hex number of the monster I'm trying to edit. |

That guide is over 3 years old: Lazy Shell no longer shows indexes in hexadecimal, they are all displayed in decimal. So no need to convert. |

Ahhh duh haha, no wonder.
So say I need to edit that enemy as show in said guide, the dummy version of Croco. How do I find him in the new sprite editor...and know that he's not the same croco as one of the ones in the game (Moleville Mines and Bandit's Way) because all I see is a drop down menu with every sprite in the game, not a way to edit specific ones that are used for monsters in battle. Thanks again for all the help, I know how busy you are. |

Use the search field to the right of the sprite menu to find it. Sprites #256-511 are the monster sprites. |
