I think I did find out on which map you can see the room with the gold statues of the characters in it, but when looking in SPRITES, I can't seem to find them, and changing the Palette Index number doesn't show the golden palette in it. I wanted to figure out how Mario can be turned into a gold statue (changing the palette basically) but when looking at the room with the characters as golden statues in it (after defeatingValentina), the characters just have their original colors in the program. And I can't see something in Events (in their events) that seems to change their color. Why is that?

Am I just blind, or is something wrong?

Try checking the event script around where Mario comes from being Gold himself, and see if that helps you in any way. Like Check the event either where he is turned to Gold by Garro or when he is poked by those stupid guards.

Hmm... okay, I did what you said (there is so much standing there) and it seems that the Event of Garro (3939) goes on in 3940, and there it says after a few lines:

[2090D1] Palette transform, set: 111, index: 8, style: fade to, duration: 10

This could be the thing where Mario slowly turns gold. I found that setting at "Screen effects"... hmm when trying it out, it seems to be wrong, so I guess this wasn't it grh.

I was looking through this event just now, and the command you said you tried should have worked. Hm...
Instead of using the Palette transform command, try using the command directly underneath it. The Palette set command.
This command...

Palette set, set: 111, index 0 to 1

...appears to make Mario turn gold immediately upon entering Nimbus Castle after the Garro event. You may try seeing if that works.
