So anyone else looking forwards to this? Personally I didn't care until three months ago or so, when friends gave me a taste for DOTA style games (we played Heroes of Newarth), and I was blown away by how deep the game actually was. Now I'm just eagerly waiting on a beta invite, despite still being somewhat of a newbie.

Kinda. I've just played (trained) some of the first and no matter how many times I tried it, I was left behind by CPU players who gained levels and stuff faster than I did.

I don't really know what I did wrong.

I got and played DOTA2! It's awesome, to the point that I'm about to uninstall the other dota games i have (which is only Heroes of Newarth anyway).

I don't know. I played DotA quite extensively back in the days and tried League of Legends briefly, and both just seemed cumbersome and boring games that combined the worst aspects of RTS and tower-defense to me... in the end, all it seemed to boil down to was repeatedly hiding in forests and then quickly executing whatever skill sequence your character is supposed to use against other players.

Well I admit that playing the Dota style games that sometimes it's a complete mystery to me why the game is as famous as it is. It's a very unforgiving game, where games are quite long and mistakes are unforgiving (you feel a kind of shame if you keep getting killed etc).

Yet at the same time it's what makes it fun for me, though I mostly play with friends who are more forgiving compared to x random player.
