Keep the feedback coming. Oh yeah, another thing... When would you like me to make a demo? Before the first castle? After the first castle?

After the castle is fine. I like the way this looks.

and Dr.Wily=my fav bad dude!

Thanks. Though, seriously, without BMF's blocks..... Well, Gravity Castle wouldn't be GRAVITY Castle.

The hack looks so-so, some levels have interesting-looking puzzles/graphics while some are bland. I don't the like the pipe either, it looks, just, bleh.

I say your doing a better job in the levels.

Tell me, which ones are bland? If they're not Silver Pipeline 1, it's because they're not done.

You know, I think it might be wise for someone to actually start giving suggestions on what I could do with that pipe. I mean, if I remember constructive criticism correctly... Just saying that it's bad isn't constructive, right? Seriously, you guys should start giving me suggestions on how I can improve.

I really like what you did with the desert tiles. If there were more odd things like that, I think this hack would turn out just fine.

Hmmm... I don't want to get TOO odd.

By the way guys, the suggestion of making the OW desert area's palette the same as the ground in the level didn't work out. Trust me, it looks worse now, and quite frankly, YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE IT. O_o In other news, I'm working on an all-new intro level. This one will actually be PLAYABLE, so I can pass it off as a Practice Level. It'll showcase a few custom blocks and stuff so you can know how my hack will work. But oh! If only I had better ideas that have yet to be seen! Oh well. By the way, something's gone wrong with the hack, and now sprites don't react to Custom Blocks in vertical levels, depsite me having patched a patch BMF gave me to fix it to the hack. O.o Until I can figure that out.... Either you'll have to live with enemies going through the screen-scrolling pipes in the second part of SP1 (Check my signature for the abbreviations on World names), or I'll modify it to be horizontal instead....

Well, update. I've changed the palette of the OW for Pendulum Desert, and I kinda like how it is now! So, here's 3 new screens:

Newer version of Peppermint Fields. There are 3 Peppermint Fields levels, and on the other piece of land is Frost Ridge. The castle is Frost Castle, and it's supposed to be VERY tall. That pipe to the right of the castle.... Leads to a "surprise".

Lower half of Pendulum Desert. Remember when the desert was simply a collection of little beach-like islands? Well, no more! I combined all the islands into one huge desert! Now, uh... I like the palette. And yes, that light-blue part is a revealed path. I tried yellow, but it clashed too much. Yes, the blue CAN look ugly, but seriously, it's about the best I can do with something light. Orange looks a bit too much like it's an unrevealed path...

Upper half of Pendulum Desert. That House over on the left is a placeholder. I'm gonna put something else there, so don't worry. Also, not everything is as it seems in Pendulum Desert. You may see a path somewhere, but how do you know that's where you're going to go? The desert is misleading!

Oh yes, World 1's Castle is no longer Gravity Castle. It is now called Dark Castle, and for good reason- It's dark! ...I guess this means I'd better show screens of that level, too! So here! 7 extra screens for you!

Whee! Entrance to the Dark Castle. We are outside the castle, and we're just about to enter it. Once you go through that pipe.... There's no turning back.

Yes, to get that P-Switch, you must Spin Jump off the Piranha Plant.

Gasp! A Door! That goes nowhere! NOTE: The pipe here has been altered. If you were to exit it like that, it'd throw you off the platform up here unless you activated the P-Switch. So I fixed it.

This area has been altered now, by the way. See rthe waterfall? I have the Piranha Plant right under it now. Which means, if you cross this waterfall, be careful not to go down.

We are now inside the castle. Long fall, you must take. At the bottom is.....

This. I want to make some good tiles that look like wind, but... So yes, you must climb to the top by... JUMPING. Jump, man! XD

Boring, isn't it? Yes, I know the level has very few enemies right now. I like to build the layout of the level first, THEN add enemies. No point adding the enemies as I go...

So, enjoy these screens while you can- I'LL BE BACK.

It's looking good. Once you add in some enemies it will look better. I'm puzzled on what you plan to do in the 9th screen shot. I've never seen someone put wind in their game. The overworld looks good, I like the hills in the first screenshot. So when do we get to see Dr. Wily?

The ninth screen has you jumping up the right side of a really tall shaft filled with gusting wind. The "wind" is just "Movement Up Block Medium", by the way. It puts a super spring into Mario's already-super jump. XD But I plan on adding distractions to it, though. It's bland right now because I'm trying to get it to work right. I've got that done, though.

Oh, has anyone noticed that Pac used part of the game's animations for the lower half of the main SMB3 water, and it doesn't animate? I decided to get rid of that, since I could already use a color at the end of GFX17 for that. Thus, I replaced that with the OTHER

Your screenies look good overall, but I really dislike all of your overworlds except Silver Pipeline. They really just lack some detail - especially the latest ones (2 and 3).

You might want to consider adding some detail to the desert in particular, such as palm trees, sand dunes, an oasis or two, pyramids, etc. That would make it look really good.

I like to place out the overworld's outline and stuff first, THEN add detail. By the way, check out the left side of the desert- There's your oasis.

By the way, what I was TRYING to say last post was...

I added in that other SMB3 water, ass shown by Dark Castle's screens. Oh, and Wily will come later in the hack. MUCH later.

Things are starting to look up now .

While the SMB3 graphics are horribly over-used, the castle is looking neat, now all I need is a demo so I can test the level design .

Post new pics.
FOR GREAT JUSTICE!

Well, all they are are.... Updated looks for old worlds, plus a look into another one..

World 2 again. I added those SMB3 glaciers/icebergs into it, and I think the perspective on them is nice. Over to the left (where I could get to), I have more of them, plus the right sides to two little "trees". You know, the Forest of Illusions ones? The small ones? Yeah, they look frozen.

World 3 again! Yes, this WILL be World 3. (Wait 'til you see my idea for World 4... ) Anyways, I added some Pyramids, Palm Trees, and some custom sand dunes to the overworld. Looks nice, huh? ...Be careful what you wish for...

...You asked for more detail, and I gave it to you. Unfortunately... I GAVE TOO MUCH, I THINK! XD But yeah, look at what I did to the poor, lonely desert. Oh, by the way... Those are all on Layer 1. I did that because the Palm Trees require Palette 4, while the Desert uses Palette 6. So, I figured it'd be best to put them on Layer 1! And I take advantage of this...

...for World 5! A little preview of coming attractions. This is a jungle with a river flowing through it. The rest of the jungle will be on the Forest of Illusion Submap, and there will only be about 2 or 3 levels here on the main Overworld. Yes, all it is is trees right now. And maybe, just maybe, I'll make a few tiles for overlapping parts of trees so I can make the jungle look even better.

So, there you have it. World 1- Silver Pipeline. World 2- Peppermint Fields/Frost Ridge. World 3- Pendulum Desert. World 5- Jungle. Not sure about the name for World 5, though. Maybe Monkey Jungle? Please put forth your ideas and opinions on the name of that world. Thank you.

Oh yeah, as for World 4.... Well, maybe I can divulge my plans. I call it....

Atlantis.

Yes, Atlantis. Deep beneath the sea, you explore the lost city of Atlantis. You start outside the city, and must make your way through a few underwater tunnels, the waters right outside the city, then infiltrate the castle, and beat the boss within. Sounds complicated? Heh, you don't know the half of it.

Oh yes, by the way, I once had a mandatory Switch Palace to get to Dark Castle. A little while ago, I felt that doing so isn't a wise move at all, so I made it so the Switch Palace is optional. But trust me, you'll need to do a bit of exploration before you can reach that Switch Palace.... And here's another spot to voice your opinion. I had an idea one day to make the player have to beat a certain boss to clear a certain Switch Palace, and activating this switch would allow you access to the Secret Exits in levels that lead you to Star Roads to Rainbow Road. Is that a good idea I should follow or not? Oh, and FYI.... All Switch Palaces WILL have bosses. What, you think I'm just gonna GIVE you the Switches like Nintendo did in the original game? >:-P So yeah, expect the Switch Palaces to be out-of-the-ordinary. You're not getting the Switches without a fight, and I'm gonna make sure you can't get them easily, either... So, with that out of the way, enjoy the screens. Oh, but just so you know... My time with this hack each day may get cut short starting tomorrow. I won't tell why, but... All you need to know is that I may not be working on this much each day. ...Pfft, like I really do much in it each day anyways. XD

This looks great so far. The overworld is sexy, and the levels look fun.

Yes, to get that P-Switch, you must Spin Jump off the Piranha Plant.

If that P-Switch is vital to get to the next area, what if somebody came along with a fireflower and killed him? They wouldn't be able to get the P-Switch so they'd have to kill themselves. If it is not vital to completing the level, disregard this comment.

Levels without many enemies (or few enemies) can actually be pretty exciting. Jump puzzles over bottomless pits, blocks that are placed in tricky places but you must jump to without falling... lots of different ways to implement things that involve jumping with just using objects and no sprites. Just a thought.

Yes, it IS vital to reach the next area, for now. I have a Springboard, but don't know what to do with it. But.... I have some idea now. ;P Oh yes, that last screen will be harder. For one, those blocks will jut outta the walls more, but more importantly, there'll be spikes right under them. Thus, you gotta jump high, but not TOO high, or else you'll get poked really bad. ;P So yeah, there'll be few enemies in that shaft, but there'll be a few to both help you out a bit and annoy the heck outta you when you jump too high/low and hit them. (And NOT from above, either. ;P ) Anyways, thanks for the feedback... Got some new stuff to do, so I won't be working on this hack as much anymore... Like I ever did. ;P

Well, just thought I'd give you guys this update:

I'm redoing the overworld a bit. I was getting tired of only being able to use ONE Switch Palace on the main overworld, so I'm moving Peppermint Fields to the Vanilla Dome submap. Unfortunately... This'll leave a BIIIIG gap in the overworld. *gasp!* What will I use it for? You'll see. ....In fact, I'm not too sure of it myself. Perhaps World 4 will be there? ....Oh darn. I just remembered something- Atlantis was originally going to be on the Vanilla Dome submap. I need to think this through.... Any ideas on how I should do this?
