There's nothing to be ashamed about, some video games make you cry. Unlike movies or books, games have a remarkable ability to do more than expressing a story to the viewer. They transform the viewer into an active member of the story, strengthening the link between the player and the fiction. Whether it is feelings of sadness, triumph or fear video games can instill all sorts of emotions onto the player.

So, there's nothing wrong with shedding a tear or two when playing games, we are human after all...

Ok I just finished Metal Gear Solid 4 and this made me make this topic.
The ending when Big boss drops the cigarette, is so epic.

This made me cry like a baby !!

Also the ending of FF7: Crisis Core when Zack gives his life to save Cloud
wll that not make cry but the ending song do

So what about you all?

A few beautiful game storylines can do so.

Tales of Symphonia/Vesperia both did it. More than once too.

There's a few others, but I can't recall them off the top of my head.

I haven't played MGS4 but I did see the cutscenes on Youtube. For once I wholeheartedly agree with you, roger_max. Though personally Otacon crying when what's her name dies and the entire microwave corridor scene were pretty bad too.

On topic!

When Crono dies near the end of Chrono Trigger, also when Kuja enslaves the Black Mage Village in FFIX.

Ah yeah, Crono's death was a pretty powerful scene. Didn't cry for that one though. Too busy admiring the visuals.

I don't cry when I'm playing video games.

I'm a heartless bastard.

I'll accept that you're a bastard, but not the rest.

Shadow of the Colossus in the part where you get to the last colossus and agro saves you from falling along with the first time I saw him drop me an occasional tear to discover that came out unscathed.

Earthbound Zero/Mother 1:
Spoiler:
When magicant was destroyed due to Ninten's great grandmother finally letting go of the world. A sad moment, even if the bad translation almost narm'd it.

I would have to say the ending of Skyward Sword was a bit of a tear jerker.

Avoiding spoilers, all I'll say is that I feel it brought a decent closure to a rather difficult struggle for Link and the crew.

When this thread was first made, I think was the saddest moment in video game history..
