This game was just released in Canada. I was just randomly scrolling around GameFAQs and saw a review for it. I actually laughed at how stupid the concept was when I first glimpsed at it - but after reading the review, I was thinking *Damn, this game looks great!*
It's basically a mix of Final Fantasy and Bejeweled. The main quest is very deep, and the overworld is huge, but the thing that really sets this game apart from others is the fighting system. You pretty much play Bejeweled in the fights (match 3 or more of the same colour to get Mana, match 3 skulls to do damage, 4 of a kind gets an extra turn, 3 gold gets money, etc) There are also special abilities if you match enough of one colour that do some pretty cool effects. This game is awesome so far. Does anyone else have it and would like to share their thoughts? I know it was just released, so some may not have looked into it yet. ____________________ Want custom overworld music in your SMW hack? Download this. Don't forget to RTFM. |

I've tried it and it's interesting enough that I'll keep with it. It's definitely a unique idea and you really get pissed off when you make a dumb move and the enemy then gets a few 4's in a row and severely punishes you. Plus there's some strategy involved; grabbing a certain color of mana just so your opponent can't perform a certain skill, for instance.
Plus it's apparently a budget game. |

I've noticed the enemies get pretty friggin hard right away, in terms of there effects and stuff. I mean, seriously, it totally pisses me off when I have enough mana to perform a devastating awesome godly spell, and then the enemy casts some unknown mana drain and kills my hopes.
Not to mention what Colin said about the really annoying 4-skulls (and half the time they're glowing ) I still think this game is great. And the overworld is positively awesome ____________________ Want custom overworld music in your SMW hack? Download this. Don't forget to RTFM. |

Posted by Kles No, it's PSP/DS/PC. I currently have the DS version. After playing it some more, I can honestly conclude that the mandatory stylus function is shit ____________________ Want custom overworld music in your SMW hack? Download this. Don't forget to RTFM. |

It's *NOT* PC, yet actually... the PC version was released as a demo for the DS/PSP versions, which is a novel idea. You'd have to think one might be coming in due course.
Want to know what's funny? Nintendo Power gave this a 4/10. Given all the good things I've read about it from other people... maybe they were just bitter it wasn't a DS exclusive? And like I've said, the AI is good. You luckily get as much time as you want to scan the board to plan your next move, but if you do anything stupid and leave the AI with a few possible 4's, it WILL take advantage of all of them. And I'm only playing on Normal so I shudder to think what Hard's like. |
