I'm tired of having to use a hack to make the signature divider zero pixels in size. :<

E: Now that I have a couple moments to expand on my point, I'll do so.

The line is effectively useless for those people who do not contain any quotes below the main post body. (see: Kawa for an example of quotes below the main post body; see: GreyMaria for an example of a signature which rests outside the main post body; see: Trelior for an example of no (visible) signature quotes.)

In Trelior's case, the line seems to serve no purpose at all, just sitting there because nobody allowed it to be removed. Sure, it separates the HTML comment in it from the rest of the post, but it could just as easily be placed outside the main post body...

I agree that we should be able to opt out of having the bar... Especially when all your signature has is the closing code for your layout.

What should be done is the signature divider should be selected for your own layout, not everyone else's. Then everyone sees whatever divider you chose on your layout, and everything looks nice.

I second this. I have to use ugly hacks to hide the sigsep from my layout. (plus at some point the Javascript filter would somtimes break it).

Plus, from what I could see in 2.0a1's code, there are already some pieces of this implemented... seems to be like multivote polls, just needing a proper frontend and perhaps some backend fixing...
