Several years ago, I posted my surname to Acmlm's Board, both in my profile and in an introductory thread. I'm looking to have those entries either deleted or altered to remove that surname so that it'll drop out of Google and co.

Are the admins here capable of this? If not, whom would I want to speak to about this?

blackhole89 should be able to take care of it for you; just send him a PM linking to the specific post(s)/profile you want edited.

As a matter of policy, we don't redact posts in the archives. Profile edits have been performed before, but in more of an ad-hoc manner...

Even if we deleted it, archive.org still would have it, every single of those hundreds of copies of archive2 that are floating around and not tracked by anybody would still have it, etc.; I really think people should realise that it is simply impossible to make the internet forget.

The thing is though, only your original copy is being documented by the search engines. It takes digging to find the others. It's not my goal to eradicate it completely as that's impossible, but you are in fact the one remaining search result I need to have gone. Then, the quick google would find nothing. I can appreciate your attitude towards the subject but this is a matter of some urgency for me.

Not to offend you or anything, but administrators are generally supposed to have a desire to help people. That's how they wind up in their position. It seems somewhat lazy to throw the word "policy" out there as an excuse not to help one of your users out with something so trivial.

Unless you stated that you like to rape babies in archive2, don't worry about it. There's not really any concern about having your name on the internet. Hell, I'll be surprised if no one else out there happens to have the same name as you anyway.

If it's so trivial, then why are you making such a big fuss over it?

Are you trying to hide from the law?
