Man sues Monster Energy Drink company after drinking part of a dead mouse in his can

The closest I've ever come to something like this were a couple of 3 Musketeers bars some years back that were white and filmy when I opened the packaging. The company said it was due to improper storage, though they still sent a couple vouchers for free product.
So, anything like this ever happen to one of you guys?
Or, alternatively, what's your opinion on quality control lapses of this magnitude in major companies?

Beats me. Heh heh according to the article they even sent it to a forensics lab in Seattle, and they were the ones to cut the can. And they determined it wasn't killed by a trap or poison. Almost seems like an intentional prank by a disgruntled employee or something.

This brings up a question. How exactly are they making our cans...?

The average alloy soft drink can is composed of two pieces - a deep cylindrical shell which contains the drink, and an end cap which seals the drink and allows for a safe opening location.

I don't think the can pieces are fabricated on-site, so it's possible the mouse could have died inside one of the can pieces... they don't exactly nest within each other, so there's probably plenty of places for a mouse to go crawl in and die.

But it's also easy to lure a mouse into an empty can, wait for it to die, then pour a new can in and claim it was there the whole time...

Are you sure this isn't just another April Fools joke? The date says 03-31, and it seems to be relatively common practice recently to backdate 04-01 articles to that so as to not make it blatantly obvious...

It seems to have been picked up by a number of sources, including a local news bit that featured an interview. Seems a bit widespread for an April Fools joke, although if it were a hoax (for publicity or money), that wouldn't surprise me much.

That's very true. it's happend alot of times, but people still do it for the money, fake sueing is one of the highest(highest right?)ways to get money, then comes pawning and stealing, but the #1 way is robbing.

and do the fact that there is a mouse there, I think that this:

This one is probably an April Fools joke, but if it is true x 2000

That's DISGUSTING I don't think I'll ever drink Monster energy drink

I've never had something like this with drinks, but I have found a pill bug roasted in a pistachio I still have a mental block towards eating the nuts How fun...

The only thing is that I don't want to escalate to paranoia.

Once found a centipede in raisins. I think that turned away me from raisins for quite awhile afterwards. Most food companies seem to be happy to make up for those finds, probably to avoid the reputation hit.

Jeez, that reminds me about an experience my uncle had... He was munching on a can of raisins, just not looking, snacking on them... Then he realized that they started to taste a little funny. He looked down and there were maggots in the can! Immediately he blew chunks and barely refrained from chugging the listerine. He said he had pieces of maggots in his teeth and everything. Very sickening. He never had raisins again.

Man that would do it...
My mom has told a story about finding a worm inside a Look! bar. Though she had fortunately broken it in half instead of biting straight in, so she noticed without eating it.

So far I'd say the raisin story wins. That would probably turn me off packaged foods for a long time.

Eh, my grandfather-out-of-law (or whatever you call a grandfather who divorced your grandmother before your mother was conceived) found a grub in a banana once.

Never ate them again, he did.

I move for a vote of no confidence in aluminum cans. GLASS FOREVERRRR

Have you really been in a situation where you swallowed a fly?

Yes. I was hiking through very tall plants near a creek. I finally found my way back out after getting cut by multiple thorn bushes then I swallowed a fly accidentally. I was disgusted and after a few minutes I forced myself to puke on the high ground near the creek.
