I keep saying in my head, "don't suck, please don't suck"...so yea, I hope its good. Sure I was pissed when they made the cartoons "kiddie" but I can sorta understand that and yea, this is a "family movie" but I have hopes for it. Either way, I'm going to try to see TMNT this weekend or the next.

Given how bad the last one was, this one certainly can't be worse. See Angry Nintendo Nerd's movie review:
Part 1
Part 2

Funny where TMNT has come since Heavy Metal magazine.

The last one? You mean the third movie that was made back in....'93? Yea, I have a feeling that it might be better than that one.

Well, I heard this one is trying to keep a continuity from part 1, I think it is supposed to be the sequel to part 1, and retconning part 2 out. With that it sounds like it's going for a darker movie than part 2. I loved part 2 tho, I didn't see a real need to do that, but I guess some people didn't care for it.

Everyone at my school is extremely excited for this... if it's any good, I might take my nephews to go see it. They need some TMNT influence, considering I LOVED them as a kid.

I'll wait until Sunday so I can see if the general consensus is that it's worth seeing. If not then... I'll save the $7.

Not another Super Mario Bros, please. Not that I´ve seen that movie but everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE have said that it sucks.

I do hope this one will become good. I liked Turtles when I was little. Weird enough, I haven´t read much about it. Haven´t seen much info about it on various sites. Game previews here and there, though.

So who´s the bad guy? Krang? Shredder?

They both suck.

I'd watch it if I wasn't worried about a clutch bill, but it's likely that I go see it when I'm on vacation. TMNT owns. Flat out.

Then we shouldn´t talk about Bebop & Rocksteady. Not even B villains.

Verminator X? That Brain hunting Alien who looks like a boar? Hitler?

Oh. Just monsters. While that can be fun, it sounds boring in such a movie.

The Footclan are evil enough enemies. Also, retconning out #2 is fucking brilliant. It was great and all, but it fucked up a bunch of shit...Like Super Shredder.

Also, I remember owning a TMNT comic book where they go to Hell. Do that. That'd be fucking sweet. Plus, Hell was located IN Japan. Thus proving, once and for all, anime is fucking evil.

I saw it yesterday.... And you can put your fears to rest. It was fucking awesome.

Contrary to reports earlier in this thread, it does NOT retcon out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze. Nor, unfortunately, does it retcon out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III.

Though, the specific events of those movies aren't very specifically mentioned either. Shredder is dead. This is narrated to you before the movie even really begins. Near the end of the movie we briefly see a trophy room of sorts where Splinter is keeping (among other things) Shredder's helmet, the broken canister of ooze, and the time scepter. That's as specific as the references get.

The turtles are back to their first-movie seriousness. Well, except Mikey, but that should come as no shock. Leo's constantly trying to keep his brothers (particularly Raph) under control and be the good leader Splinter expects him to be. Raph is hot-headed and rebellious and wants to do things his own way. Donnie's smart.

They aren't constantly making corny jokes (except for Mikey), they aren't constantly saying "dude" or other such terms (except for Mikey), and I don't recall there being any particular references to any of them (except for Mikey) eating pizza. It is very, very much a return to the Mirage comics roots (which is what made the first movie so great).

The plot is also great. The following paragraph may be considered as containing spoilers, but it's all pretty well laid out within the first ten minutes of the movie.

Spoiler:
It's been years since their last adventure together. Leo's been traveling the world, training. Mikey's been working kid's birthday parties (wearing a big turtle head mask). Don's been working tech support. And Raph's returned to his vigilante ways, wearing some body armor which disguises him well enough that nobody manages to realize it's him.

As for the bad guy(s)... It's really not clear for most of the movie who really is the badguy(s). There's basically three forces going about, apart from the Turtles.

There's the Foot clan, currently lead by Karai (Ziyi Zhang).

There's the thirteen monsters, whose origins are explained at the beginning of the movie.

And there's Max Winters (Patrick Stewart) and the uh... "forces" he's put together to capture the monsters.

I'm not going to tell you who's really bad and who's really not.

Anyway, when you get to the basics, this movie is good for the same reason other comic-based movies have been good recently. It takes the material seriously. Go watch it. It's definitely worth the price of admission.

Okay, NOW I´m really excited. I don´t know exatcly when this movie will come to the theatres around here, though.

Seems to have a lot of plot twists. I hope I can go see it.

Oh I wanted to read that long post about the movie sooo bad, but I'm gonna go see it tonight. Hopefully there won't be too many annoying kids in the theater when I go.

Yeah, advertisements have a way of making even the best movies look terrible. Or sometimes the reverse. In either case, they aren't a good quality indicator.

I don't think that's the best statement to make. It is marketed to children. And you saw it in a public place. If you don't want to see it with kids go to the latest showing.

Its glad to see they haven't changed since ... well forever.

I guess you can count on two things in this world, turtles, and corrupt politicians.

I think I should pirate watch this.
