News about gas prices don't bother me. I just use less trips to get done what needs to get done. Some people go to Walmart 6 times in two days and sometimes even in one day just to buy some Sour Patch Kids crap. They just don't get it.

I have a 40 mile round trip commute for work. Of course I am bothered! There was a time I could fill a tank with $20 and come back with change. Now, I'm lucky if I pull away from the pump with less than a $50 crater in my wallet.

I commute to a community college about fifty miles from my house on an almost daily basis, in an old 1980 Malibu. That shit infuriates me. Last term I would spend about $55 a week. This term my schedule was specifically designed to avoid excessive attendance, specifically due to gas prices. Anything over $3 a gallon and I will remain upset.

According to Google, quote-1.5 (€ / l) = 7.98911157 US$ / US gallon-unquote, so I can only snicker about your problems. Gasoline has been inadequately cheap in large parts of the world for a very long time anyway, and perhaps the US is more than overdue for finally erecting a proper system of public transport.

I knew this would come up. I just knew it. Really the closest thing to a defense I can offer is that I grew up with gas that was about $1.25, or .89€. I was too young to enjoy it though at the time, but it still makes a $4 gallon feel outrageous now. Anyway, I would rather they quit screwing around with corn oil and start working on a safe way to split and burn water..

There is one public bus stop near my house that comes rarely and is a relatively long walk. Therefore using a car is pretty much the only choice.

I'm in the same boat as you. The nearest public bus stop is about 5 miles away and through another town. Given how the weather is usually out here, and that the road outside my house has no sidewalk and a 55mph speed limit, it's a bit difficult to leave here without a car.

That is very similar except mine is about one mile away. Most of my area has a sidewalk except a big part of a road near my house that is alongside a field. Luckily it only snows about 1/3 of the year.

Agreed, but they do bother me. Walmart's gas price was around $3.58 two weeks ago. Yesterday, it was $3.41, and today it was $3.53!

That's not even the reason they're going up. It's those oil companies; the oil isn't going anywhere new. The oil companies are just finding a reason to raise the price. Even when the oil price when down, the gas went up!

There is also inflation to take into account, especially as the USD have been taking a dive in the last ten years or so.

As soon as the banks in the US start handing out loans again, I'm positive we'll see hyperinflation. Just can't get around it... the mint has been producing money at a rate it has never done before.

No, they don't really bother me.

Of course I don't like them going up, but it doesn't really bother me as I don't drive too much anyways, it doesn't really affect my lifestyle too much whatsoever

Holy shit. Yeah, where's that saltwater fuel that turned up a few years back? Only then will we need to start draining the oceans to fulfil our need to move across this planet.

Using the ocean as fuel? That's a brilliant idea, it fixes two problems at once. Sure, temperatures will keep rising, but sea level sure won't!
