I used SMB Utility to make my SMB1 hack, every level from 1-1 to 8-4 has been edited including all of the bonus areas. I'm still having a two problems though...

One of them is that the Warp Zone in 1-2 always activates 4-2's warp zone (the one with world 5) even though the numbers 2, 3, and 4 still pop up when playing the game.

My other problem is that on 4-2 somehow, if you go up the regular ending pipe, it takes you to the end of 3-1 (in a place where there's no pipe), I'm not sure how or when that changed?

One extra question, is there any way to make it so the underground bonus areas can have bullet bill cannons instead of "islands" similar to some of the bonus areas in SMB: Lost Levels?

Thank you!

Q1. One of them is that the Warp Zone in 1-2 always activates 4-2's warp zone (the one with world 5) even though the numbers 2, 3, and 4 still pop up when playing the game.

Q2. My other problem is that on 4-2 somehow, if you go up the regular ending pipe, it takes you to the end of 3-1 (in a place where there's no pipe), I'm not sure how or when that changed?

A1. Did you try editing other features besides levels in SMB Utility. To anwser to your question. Click tools and go to Edit some game stuff. A window pops up and you edit the Warp Zones there.

A2. Click on the red shell in the editor, you should only edit the middle blue one which edits the room areas.

Click edit and go to edit header. Then go to type and you see Guns in the dropdown menu.

@A1. Yes, I've used all of the features including the warp zone feature, and it says worlds 2, 3, and 4 in the "Edit Some Game Stuff" section. (It even shows it as 2, 3, and 4 when actually playing the game), but going down the pipes take you to the equivalent of what's supposed to be in 4-2 (-1, 5, -1) instead of 1-2. Both of 4-2's warp zones still take Mario to the correct world.

@A2. I'm talking about the regular "L" pipe at the end of the level, and it's not supposed to take you to the end of 3-1, it's supposed to take you to the end of 1-1, all of the other underground and underwater levels take you to the end of 1-1.

@A3. Thank you!

are you entering the pipe before the entire warp zone area is on screen?

the warp zones are tough to understand exactly how they work

with regard to the pipes, where they send you is controlled by special "blocks" that are displayed when you're editing enemies. the blocks are displayed below the game area in the white rows. you can edit them and set which page they point to

chances are you moved some rooms around or something so they don't point to the right place any more

The 4-2 "L" pipe is fixed now! Thank you!

I'm still having problems with the 1-2 warp zone though. I keep moving some of the "special blocks" around. Sometimes, I get it so the warp zone works right but the scrolling is messed up. Other times I it goes back to being -1, 5, -1. There's also times where the warp zone message pops up in the wrong spot. Etc.

Here's an IPS patch if you need to look at it (don't fix it for me though)

open up the original SMB rom in SMButil and open up your rom in another instance of SMBUtil.. you can see what is different about your rom

the "scroll stop" block has to be precisely placed in order to get the scrolling to stop exactly where you want it. to put the scroll stop on the next page, enable the "page flag"

the warp zone message only appears on "odd" numbered pages.. in the original it's on page 11 of the level, but on yours it's on page 10

you may also need to use the "warp zone" enemy block that goes before the L pipe in the original to get it to display the correct warp zone.

Thank you! Everything's fixed now!
I'll put the final thing on kafuka.org after I give it one more test run.
